4. FIRST AID MEASURES
General Advice
Call 911 or emergency medical service. Remove and isolate contaminated clothing and shoes.
Eye Contact
Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and consult a physician.
Skin Contact
Wash off with warm water and soap. In case of contact with liquefied gas, thaw frosted parts
with lukewarm water.
Inhalation
Move victim to fresh air. Administer oxygen if breathing is difficult and you are trained. If
breathing has stopped, contact emergency medical services immediately.
Ingestion
Clean mouth with water and afterwards drink plenty of water. Consult a physician.
Notes to Physician
Treat symptomatically.
Protection of First-aiders
Ensure that medical personnel are aware of the material(s) involved, and take precautions to
protect themselves.
5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Flammable Properties
Extremely flammable liquefied gas. Vapors from liquefied gas are initially heavier than air and
spread along ground. Containers may explode when heated.
Flash Point
-155°F / -104°C
Method
estimated
Suitable Extinguishing Media
Use extinguishing agent suitable for type of surrounding fire. Dry chemical or CO
2
. Water
spray, fog or regular foam. Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk.
Damaged cylinders should be handled only by specialists.
Hazardous Combustion Products
Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide (CO
2
), Formaldehyde.
Explosion Data
Sensitivity to Mechanical Impact
None
Sensitivity to Static Discharge
Yes.
Specific Hazards Arising from the
Chemical
Vapors from liquefied gas are initially heavier than air and spread along ground. Vapors may
travel to areas away from work site before igniting/flashing back to vapor source.*. Cylinders
exposed to fire may vent and release flammable gas through pressure relief devices . Ruptured
cylinders may rocket.
Protective Equipment and
Precautions for Firefighters
As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH
(approved or equivalent) and full protective gear.
