How to use ISO Plane
Installation of the ISO-Plane pads is easy.Simplyplace 2 pads under each device that you
wish to isolate. Maximum stability is achieved by placing the pads close to the outer
edges. Two ISO Wedge pads will accommodate virtually any size of loudspeaker or
equipment. To match varying width, simply spread the pads apart.
By inverting the ISO Plane pads the front lip can be used to grab onto the table edge. This
can provide extra grip to secure turntables and CD player in place during performance.
Introduction
Thank you and congratulations on purchasing Primacoustic ISO Plane, part of the
Primacoustic family of acoustic treatment products. ISO Plane was conceived to be a
multi-purpose vibration isolator and shock mount for use with studio monitor
loudspeakers and equipment that is sensitive to vibration. ISO Plane will improve the
accuracy of your studio monitors and home theater loudspeakers by minimizing the
transfer of vibrations to supporting structures. ISO Plane will effectively shock mount
turntables, CD players.

ISO Pad Manual Part # R870 1085 00
Description
Applications
OtherApplications
ISO Plane is used to counter the effects of vibration-loading, or the physical transfer of
vibrations from one solid directly to another solid. In the case of loudspeakers, vibration-
loading occurs when speaker cabinet vibrations are transferred to structures that support
the loudspeakers. Vibration-loading is perceived as an artificial boost of mid-range and
low frequencies.
The direct result of vibration-loading is that a listener will hear a combination of direct
sound from the loudspeaker and the effects of structural resonance. They hear a
frequency content altered by resonance instead of an accurate picture of what is actually
on the recording. If that listener makes mix and equalization decisions based on what they
are hearing, the mix will lack low and mid-range frequency content when reproduced on
other play-back systems.
In the case of vibration-sensitive equipment, vibration-loading can cause turntables and
CD burners to skip. High output subwoofers are notorious for this. The natural damping
characteristics of the ISO Plane make it very effective for shock mounting turntables and
CD players. Using ISO Plane pads will also improve the sound quality of turntables and
CD players. For turntables, less vibration mean less low frequency rumble, for CD players
it means less error correction.
The ISO Plane system consists of 4 pieces of high density, low compression polyurethane
foam, enough for two loudspeakers or two turntables. Each piece measures 12.75" x 4.5"
with a maximum overall height of 1.5". The ISO Wedge is cut with a planar profile making it
useful for isolating equipment that requires a level surface.
The ISO Wedge uses the natural vibration damping characteristic of high density open-
cell foam to isolate loudspeaker vibrations from studio furniture and fixtures. ISO Wedge
offers the listener a truer reproduction of their mix without expensive structural
modifications and electronic equalization. The resulting mixes will translate better across
different playback systems.

WARNING:
Primacoustic Warranty
Due to the nature of the material, slight variations in dimension and finish
will occur but do not affect performance.
A) Do not cover ventilation openings with the ISO Pads.
B) Do not place ISO Pads on top of equipment that radiates heat.
C) Do not place ISO Pads on surfaces that are smaller than the ISO Pads.
D) Do not place top heavy or unbalanced loads on ISO Pads.
E) Do not expose to open flame or excessive heat.
