PROMOW GANG REEL MOWER SHARPENING INSTRUCTIONS
Your ProMow gang reel system is designed to give you years of trouble free mowing service.
With normal use, we would recommend sharpening your mower at the start of the mowing season
with the ProMow Sharpening Kit. It is much easier to sharpen the reels before they need it badly.
Each individual lawn type of grass and mowing conditions are different, so use your own judgment
as to when the best time would be to sharpen. A sharp mower allows you to keep the cutting action
in superior condition and maximize its efficiency.
Each individual lawn, type of grass and mowing conditions are different. It should not, however, be
necessary to sharpen your mower’s blades more often than a few times per mowing season even in
the most severe applications.
SHARPENING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove each head out of the frame and securely support it on your work table.
2. Using a screwdriver inserted in the slot of the “C” clip retaining
ring, which holds the wheel onto the axle. Remove the “C” clip
and wheel from the right hand side of the mower (See Figure 1)
3. Carefully remove the pinion gear being extremely careful not to
lose the pawl, as it will easily fall out of the slot located on the reel
shaft. Remove the pawl and place in a safe place. (See Figure 2)
4. Place the provided backlapping tool attachment carefully over the
reel shaft,. The cotter pin should fit through the hole in the shaft and
the drill attachment in place. (See Figure 3)
MANUFACTURERS ALERT: Failure to firmly secure mower head to work surface could
result in injury. Always keep fingers and hands away from the blades while sharpening.
