4. Soft‐APFunction
Exceptingbecomeawirelessclientofotherwirelessaccesspoints,thiswirelesscardcanact
as a wireless service provider also! You can switch this wireless card’s opera ting mode to
‘AP’modetosimulatethefunctionofarealwirelessaccesspointbysoftware,andallother
computers and wireless devices
can connect to your computer wirelessly, even share the
internetconnectionyouhave!
Pleasefollow theinstructions in following chapterstouse the AP function of your wireless
card.
4.1SwitchtoAPmodeandBasicConfiguration
The operating mode of the wireless card is ‘Station Mode’ (becoming a client of other
wirelessaccesspoints)bydefault.IfyouwanttoswitchtoAPmode,pleaseright‐clickRalink
utilityicon,andselect‘SwitchtoAPMode’.
Afteryouselect‘SwitchtoAPMode’,theRalinkutilityiconwillbechangedto:
