The TRAINER 8.0 treadmill offers an impressive selection of features designed to make your workouts at home more effective and enjoyable. And when you’re not exercising, the unique treadmill can be folded up, requiring less than half the floor space of other treadmills. reading this manual, please see the front cover of this manual.
PART IDENTIFICATION CHART Use the drawings below to identify small parts used for assembly. The number in parentheses below each drawing is the key number of the part, from the PART LIST near the end of this manual. The number following the key number is the quantity used for assembly. Note: If a part is not in the hardware kit, check to see whether it is preattached. Extra parts may be included.
ASSEMBLY • To hire an authorized service technician to assemble the treadmill, call 1-800-445-2480 • Left parts are marked “L” or “Left” and right parts are marked “R” or “Right.” • Assembly requires two persons. • To identify small parts, see page 7. • Place all parts in a cleared area and remove the packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until you finish all assembly steps.
2. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. Remove the tie securing the Upright Wire (81) to the front of the Base (94). Next, identify the Right Upright (90). Have a second person hold the Right Upright near the Base (94). See the inset drawing. Tie the wire tie (A) in the Right Upright (90) securely around the end of the Upright Wire (81). Then, insert the Upright Wire into the lower end of the Right Upright as you pull the other end of the wire tie through the Right Upright.
4. Hold the Right Upright (90) against the Base (94). Make sure not to pinch the Upright Wire (81). 4 Next, hold a Wheel (97) inside the Base (94), and insert a 3/8" x 1 3/4" Screw (62) through the Base and the Wheel as shown; do not fully tighten the Screw yet.
6. Attach a Handrail (86) to the Right Upright (90) with two 5/16" x 2 1/2" Screws (28) and two 5/16" Star Washers (11) in the location shown; do not fully tighten the Screws yet. Make sure not to pinch the Upright Wire (81), and make sure that the wire is on the indicated side of the Upright. 6 28 11 E 86 28 Attach the other Handrail (86) to the Left Upright (89) in the same way. Note: There are no wires on the left side. 89 11 E Then, remove and discard the indicated screws (E).
8. Set the console assembly (F) face down on a soft surface to avoid scratching the console assembly. Remove and save the four 1/4" x 1/2" Screws (4). 8 4 F 4 9. Hold the console assembly (F) near the Pulse Crossbar (93). 9 F See the inset drawing. Connect the pulse wires (G, H). The connectors should slide together easily and snap into place. If they do not, turn one connector and try again.
10. Insert the Upright Wire (81) through the indicated looped tie (I) on the console assembly (F). See the inset drawing. Connect the Upright Wire (81) to the console wire (J). The connectors should slide together easily and snap into place. If they do not, turn one connector and try again. IF YOU DO NOT CONNECT THE CONNECTORS PROPERLY, THE CONSOLE MAY BECOME DAMAGED WHEN YOU TURN ON THE POWER. Pull the tie (I) tight around the Upright Wire (81) and cut off the end of the tie. 10 F J I 11.
12. Identify the Right and Left Trays (34, 36). 12 34 Attach the Trays (34, 36) to the Console Base (64) with eight #8 x 1/2" Screws (1); do not overtighten the Screws. 36 64 1 1 13. Carefully slide the Upright Crossbar (58) between the Left and Right Uprights (89, 90). Attach the Upright Crossbar with the four 5/16" x 3/4" Screws (31) that you removed in step 5, and four 5/16" Star Washers (11); start all four Screws, and then tighten them.
14. Attach the Tray (74) to the Upright Crossbar (58) with four #8 x 3/4" Screws (2); start all four Screws, and then tighten them. 14 Then, tighten the four 1/4" x 1/2" Screws (4). 58 2 15. Identify the Right Handrail Cover (92). Set the Right Handrail Cover on the right Handrail (86). Start two #8 x 3/4" Truss Head Screws (23) into the bottom of the Handrail Cover; do not fully tighten the Truss Head Screws.
. Note: If the treadmill is assembled on a smooth surface, it may roll forward during this step. 16 Raise the Frame (56) to the upright position. IMPORTANT: Do not raise the Frame past the vertical position. Have a second person hold the Frame until step 18 is completed. L Remove the two 5/16" x 3/4" Screws (25) from the Latch Crossbar (38). Next, orient the Storage Latch (53) as shown.
18. Remove the 5/16" Nut (12) and the 5/16" x 2 1/4" Bolt (3) from the bracket on the Latch Crossbar (38). 18 Align the upper end of the Storage Latch (53) with the bracket on the Latch Crossbar (38), and insert the 5/16" x 2 1/4" Bolt (3) through the bracket and the Storage Latch. This will push a spacer (N) out of the Storage Latch; discard the spacer. 12 N 38 3 53 56 Next, tighten the 5/16" Nut (12) onto the 5/16" x 2 1/4" Bolt (3).
20. Press the two tabs (not shown) on the Tablet Holder (105) into the slots (O) in the console assembly (F). 20 105 Then, attach the Tablet Holder (105) with four #8 x 5/8" Machine Screws (26). Tip: Start the two upper Machine Screws first, and then start the two lower Machine Screws. Do not overtighten the Machine Screws. Start First 26 26 O F IMPORTANT: The Tablet Holder (105) is designed for use with most full-size tablets.

To avoid overloading the circuit, do not plug other electrical devices, except for lowpower devices such as cell phone chargers, into the surge suppressor or into an outlet on the same circuit. IMPORTANT: If the treadmill is connected to an AFCI-equipped outlet and your circuit breaker trips repeatedly when the treadmill is used, see the front cover of this manual to purchase an arc filter.
CONSOLE DIAGRAM FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable. When you select the manual mode of the console, you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button. As you exercise, the console will display continuous exercise feedback. You can even measure your heart rate using the built-in handgrip heart rate monitor or a compatible heart rate monitor.
HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room temperature before you turn on the power. If you do not do this, you may damage the console displays or other electrical components. 1. Insert the key into the console. Plug in the power cord (see page 19). Next, locate the power switch on the treadmill frame near the power cord. Make sure that the switch is in the reset position.
4. Change the incline of the treadmill as desired. To change the incline of the treadmill, press the Incline increase and decrease buttons or one of the numbered Quick Grade buttons. Each time you press the Incline increase or decrease button, the incline setting will change by 0.5 percent. If you press one of the numbered Quick Grade buttons, the incline will gradually change until it reaches the selected incline setting.
6. Measure your heart rate if desired. 8. When you are finished exercising, remove the key from the console. You can measure your heart rate using either the handgrip heart rate monitor or a compatible heart rate monitor. For information about purchasing an optional chest heart rate monitor, see page 27. Step onto the foot rails, press the Stop button, and adjust the incline of the treadmill to zero.
HOW TO CONNECT YOUR TABLET TO THE CONSOLE If a different speed and/or incline setting is programmed for the next segment, the speed and/or incline setting will flash in the display to alert you. The treadmill will then automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment. The console supports BLUETOOTH connections to tablets via the iFit Bluetooth Tablet app and to compatible heart rate monitors. Note: Other BLUETOOTH connections are not supported.
5. Disconnect your tablet from the console if desired. THE SETTINGS MODE 1. Select the settings mode. To disconnect your tablet from the console, first select the disconnect option in the iFit Bluetooth Tablet app. Then, press and hold the iFit Sync button on the console until the LED on the console turns solid green. To select the settings mode, press the Settings button. The first settings screen will appear in the display.
Display Test—This screen is intended to be used by service technicians to identify whether the display is working correctly. Demo Mode—The currently selected demo mode option will appear in the display. The console features a demo mode, designed to be used if the treadmill is displayed in a store. If the demo mode is turned on, the console will not turn off and the display will not be reset when you finish exercising. Press the Speed increase button repeatedly to select a demo mode option.
THE OPTIONAL CHEST HEART RATE MONITOR HOW TO ADJUST THE CUSHIONING SYSTEM Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system, the key to achieving the best results is to maintain the proper heart rate during your workouts. The optional chest heart rate monitor will enable you to continuously monitor your heart rate while you exercise, helping you to reach your personal fitness goals. To purchase a chest heart rate monitor, please see the front cover of this manual.

HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL To avoid damaging the treadmill, adjust the incline to zero before you fold the treadmill. Then, remove the key and unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill. Before moving the treadmill, fold it as described at the left. CAUTION: Make sure that the storage latch is locked in the storage position. Moving the treadmill may require two people.
MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING MAINTENANCE c. Check the power switch located on the treadmill frame near the power cord. If the switch protrudes as shown, the switch has tripped. To reset the power switch, wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in. Regular maintenance is important for optimal performance and to reduce wear. Inspect and properly tighten all parts each time the treadmill is used. Replace any worn parts immediately.

EXERCISE GUIDELINES Burning Fat—To burn fat effectively, you must exercise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time. During the first few minutes of exercise, your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy. Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy. If your goal is to burn fat, adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone.
SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. Toe Touch Stretch 1 Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible. Hold for 15 counts, then relax. Repeat 3 times. Stretches: Hamstrings, back of knees and back. 2. Hamstring Stretch Sit with one leg extended.
