Softlight silver – 26° beam
Gives a center-weighted beam. Its large (500mm/19.7”)
diameter gives soft shadow definition.
Its finish is efficient and highly specular.
Softlight silver with Grid – 10° beam
The wide reflector diameter, combined with grid,
gives a highly directional beam.
Softlight white – 65° beam
Designed to give wide, uniform soft light
with matching shadow definition. The gradual fall-off
makes it perfect for close-up beauty photography.
Softlight white with Grid – 25° beam
This permits light to pass straight out, but
extinguishes the edge light steplessly, with very
soft shadow definition. Suitable for character
key lighting for portraiture. The beam pattern is
very similar to the Softlight silver.
It is also a distinctive alternative to widely used softboxes.
Character lighting refers to a source of light that is placed
close to the subject. In portrait photography, it is meant to give
form and character to the subject’s face. For both Softlight
Reflectors, the center disc that blocks out the direct light can
be replaced by a semi-opaque opal glass disc to create a
center hot spot which also eliminates a donut-hole effect in
specular highlights. Each reflector can be supplemented by
a honeycomb grid to create soft, toned-down edge-lighting.
The Softlight Grid accessory yields 10° coverage with the
silver, and 25° with the white reflector, for more directed light.
A 1/3 f-stop frontal diffuser is also available to reduce output
and soften the light.

The silver-coloured Softlight Reflector gives focused light,
while at the same time providing soft shadow definition,
thanks to its large reflecting area. It is especially suitable
for lighting materials or subjects in which the structure
should be emphasized.
The white Softlight Reflector also known as “The Beauty
Dish” gives a soft, yet directional light. Meant to provide
character lighting in portrait photography, the Softlight is
superb for a wide variety of uses from product photography
to architectural or environmental studies.
