8.3.51 Force legacy USB mode (disable USB 3.0)
Default: No
Promote Control is compatible with USB 3.0 enabled cameras via an optional PCT-USB-OTG adapter. In
an unlikely event your camera fails to connect via USB, try changing this value to "Yes". Note that this
may render Promote Control incompatible with newer cameras, including Nikon D800.
8.3.52 Distance units
Default: meters
Use this setting to change the distance unit used in "Hyperfocal Calculator" mode. You can choose from
meters, feet, or yards.
8.3.53 Reset to defaults
This option resets all settings to their factory default values, including both "Setup Menu" and "Mode"
settings. To restore the defaults, hold the "Up" button and press the "Down" button; Promote Control
powers off. The next time it powers on, all settings are reset to their defaults.
Restoring factory defaults cannot be reversed. It may be helpful to record all current settings before
using this feature.
8.3.54 Firmware Info
This screen shows the current version of Promote Control’s internal software. New software versions
may be released from time to time to add new features and support newer camera models.
Visit Promote Control page on our website at http://www.promotesystems.com/ to check for new
software versions.
8.4 Mirror Lock-Up Operation
When using your camera on a tripod, it may shake mildly when the shutter is released because the
camera must move its internal mirror to take a picture. Most professional cameras have a feature known
as "Mirror Lock-Up" that locks the mirror until the camera stops shaking before taking a picture. Normally
you must press the shutter release button twice – first to lock the mirror and second to actually take the
picture. Promote Control can do both steps automatically with a configurable delay between locking the
mirror and taking the picture.
"Mirror Lock-Up" is also known as "M-Up" or "MLU". The Promote Control display has an "MLU" setting to
facilitate activation and deactivation of this feature. The "MLU" setting is not available in select operation
modes.
