Thiscommandcreatesafilecalledvdmconfig.ldfthatcontainstheexportedView
LDAPconfigurationinformation.
LDIFdataisimportedintoViewManagerusingLDIFDE,autilityincludedwith
WindowsServer2003thatsupportsbatchoperationsbasedontheLDIFfileformat
standard.
To import View Manager configuration data
Fromthecommandpromptonastandardor
replicaViewConnectionServer,change
totheLDAPdirectoryandexecutethefollowingcommands:
cd C:\windows\adam
LDIFDE -i -f vdmconfig.ldf -s 127.0.0.1 -z
Thiscommandimportsafilecalledvdmconfig.ldfthatcontainspreviouslyexported
ViewLDAPconfigurationdata.
Optimizing Your Installation
TosupportalargedeploymentofViewManagerdesktops,youcanoptimizethe
WindowsServercomputersonwhichyouinstallViewConnectionServer.Oneach
computer,youcanoptimizetheephemeralports,TCBhashtablesize,JavaVirtual
Machinesettings,andWindowspage‐filesize.

Ephemeral Ports
ViewManagerusesephemeralportstoestablishTCPconnectionsbetweenView
ConnectionServerandtheViewdesktopsthatitadministers.TosupportalargeView
desktopdeployment,youcanincreasethenumberofavailableephemeralports.
Anephemeralportisashort‐livedendpointthatiscreatedbytheoperatingsystem
whenaprogramrequestsanyavailableuserport.Theoperatingsystemselectstheport
numberfromapredefinedrange,typicallybetween1024and65535,andreleasesthe
portaftertherelatedTCPconnectionterminates.
Bydefault,youcancreateamaximumofapproximately4,000ephemeralportsthatrun
concurrentlyonWindows
Server2003.
