Using the View Agent on Virtual Machines with Multiple NICs
ForguestsystemswithmorethanonevirtualNIC,youmustconfigurethesubnetthat
theViewAgentwilluse.ThisdetermineswhichnetworkaddresstheViewAgent
providestotheViewConnectionServerforclientRDPconnections.
Toconfigurethissubnet,createthefollowingregistrystringinthevirtualmachine
on
whichtheViewAgentisinstalled,wheren.n.n.nistheTCP/IPsubnetandmisthe
numberofbitsinthesubnetmask:
HKLM\Software\VMware Inc.\VMware VDM\Node Manager\subnet = n.n.n.n/m (REG_SZ)
Individual Desktops
IndividualdesktopsaresinglevirtualmachinesthatcontainViewAgentandcanbe
accessedremotelybyViewManagerclients.Usersentitledtousethistypeofdesktop
willalwaysaccessthesamesystemeachtimetheyconnect.
Individualdesktopsareappropriateforuserswhorequireasingleuniquededicated
desktop,or
forhostingacostlyapplicationwithasinglehostlicensethatneedstobe
accessedbymultipleusersatdifferenttimes.
Individualdesktopsarenotpermanentlyassignedandcanbeentitledto,andaccessed
by,multipleusers.Therefore,theirusagemodelisidenticaltothatofaphysicalsystem
thatis
sharedbymultipleaccreditedusers.
Deploying an Individual Desktop
1FromwithintheViewAdministratorinterface,clicktheDesktopsandPools
buttonandthenclicktheInventorytab.IntheDesktopspane,ensurethatthe
DesktopsandPoolstabisselectedandclickAdd.
2YouarepresentedwiththeAddDesktopwizard.Fromhereyoucanconfigureand
deploya
newlinkedclonedesktoppool.SelectIndividualDesktopandclick
