Q
You can select how the operating system selects a boot device. There are two
options: selectable boot and primary boot port name.
Do one of the following:
■ Selectable Boot. Use selectable boot if you want the operating system to boot
from the first target the BIOS finds.
NOTE: This option is not available on Solaris SPARC.
Do the following:
1. Enable the Selectable Boot check box.
2. From the (Primary) Boot Port Name drop-down list, select the default setting:
00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00.
NOTE: Selecting a target other than the default setting from the (Primary)
Boot Port Name drop-down list overrides the Selectable Boot
check box setting. The target is selected using the primary boot port
name.
3. In the HBA Port Settings section, select the Enable HBA Port BIOS check
box (see section 11.1.1).
■ Primary Boot Port Name. Use the primary boot port name if you want the
operating system to boot from that target. Do the following:
1. From the (Primary) Boot Port Name drop-down list, select the target. The
operating system boots from that target.
In Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003, when "00-00.......00-00" is selected
in the Primary Boot Port Name drop-down menu, the operating system boots
from the first target it finds with LUN 0.
In Solaris SPARC, when "00-00.......00-00" is selected in the Primary Boot
Port Name drop-down menu, all boot device information is cleared.
2. From the LUN list, select the LUN of the target from which you want to boot.
This option is used with the (Primary) Boot Port Name to verify the boot
device.
3. In Solaris SPARC, view the target ID. The Target ID read-only field designates
the target ID of the device from which the operating system will boot.
NOTE: When performing boot device selection and target persistent binding
on Solaris SPARC, note the following:
If a target device is selected as the boot device, the Bind check box
and the Target ID field in the Target Persistent Binding tabbed page
are disabled for the corresponding target. In addition, the Bind
check box is checked, indicating that the target is already persistently
