6.10 GPRS Monitor
GPRS Monitor reports date transfer amounts per certain period of time, logs daily/
monthly/yearly data transfer amounts, compares the collected data against pre-dened
data trafc (tariff) rates, and performs other activities that help you to maintain your cellular
phone account. Note that this application is not pre-installed in the ROM of your Pocket
PC Phone. Rather, it is located on the Application CD that came with your Pocket PC
Phone when you bought it. You can choose whether or not you want to install GPRS
Monitor from the Application CD.
Setting up GPRS Monitor
You will initially need to select the connection you wish to monitor:
1. Select Start > Programs > GPRS Monitor.
2. Select Options... from the Tools menu.
3. Select the Connection tab. Check the Enable connection monitoring checkbox.
4. In the Connection drop-down list, you will see a list of congured connections. Select
the one you would like to monitor.
GPRS Monitor supports multiple proles. If you usually use roaming, you may want to
consider setting up several proles, each representing one provider or tariff.
Selecting your service plan
Input the service plan offered from your GPRS service provider so that GPRS Monitor
can calculate your network connection costs.
1. Select Start > Programs > GPRS Monitor.
2. Choose Options... from the Tools menu.
3. In the Tariff and Tariff Details tabs, enter the appropriate information.
GPRS Monitor will calculate your network connection costs based on the information you
have entered. However, this calculation is only an estimated cost and might be different
from the amount on the actual Invoice received from your service provider.
Selecting the display
1. Select Start > Programs > GPRS Monitor.
2. Select Options... from the Tools menu.
3. Tap the Icon tab. In that screen, the Show Taskbar Icon checkbox must be checked.
Then the Customize button will be enabled. Tap Customize.
4. Tap each of the Icon Bar tabs and select which data to display in each one. There are
three bars that can display the following current information: Speed, Session Trafc,
Day Trafc, Month’s Trafc, and Battery.
If you want the bar to reset after it lls, check the Reset bar when full checkbox.
