PRODUCT DESCRIPTIO N The Concourse QSUB is a high-performance compact subwoofer system designed to augment the bass response of any QUAD Industrial Q Series, C Series or R Series system. Built around an acoustically inert MDF enclosure, the QSUB delivers frequency response down to 35Hz. Built around a genuine QUAD longthrow woofer with integral passive crossover, the QSUB integrates easily into any audio system. L and R channels of a power amplifier for true stereo subwoofer operation.
The QSUB includes an internal passive crossover allowing for direct connection to a full range amplifier. The crossover filters signals sent to the subwoofer to below 150Hz, ensuring maximum impact with minimal distortion. The crossover also offers high pass filtered outputs that may be connected directly to low-impedance full range speakers. This permits the creation of very cost-effective subwoofer satellite systems. Wiring connections are made via two terminal strips located on the rear of the cabinet.
Step 3 CONNECTIONS Remove the two screws on the top and bottom of the cabinet at the rear. The Concourse QSUB is fitted with a unique dual voice-coil driver and a dual-channel passive crossover. This permits the subwoofer to be connected to both channels of a stereo amplification system, ensuring that Low Frequency signals from both channels are reproduced without the need for a second subwoofer. Step 4 Place the speaker in close proximity to the bracket and terminate the wiring.
Stereo Plus Satellites Connect the QSUB to the power amplifier using two 2-conductor cables, observing the polarity markings on both the speaker and the power amplifier. Terminate the cables to the Full Range Input terminal block ensuring that the wires are clamped firmly and that there are no stray wire strands that might cause a short circuit. Connect the satellite speakers to the High Pass Output terminal block observing polarity markings.
Mono Subwoofer Plus Satellites It is not necessary to drive the QSUB with two separate amplifier channels if the system is reproducing a mono signal. For mono applications simply connect one amplifier channel to both Left and Right Full Range Input terminals in parallel. Note that this method places the two 8Ω voice coils in parallel, resulting in a net system impedance of 4Ω. Ensure that the connected amplifier is rated for a 4Ω load.
Subwoofer Only Applications The QSUB may be used as an add-on subwoofer with a variety of systems, even without satellite speakers connected. Typically in 70/100V applications, the full range speakers are driven by a constant-voltage amplifier, while the QSUB is driven by a separate amplifier. No external electronic crossover is required, permitting the use of nearly any suitable power amplifier. COMPLIANCE This product is in compliance with CE directives and bears the CE mark.
