7. Cleaning Beneath Heat Exchanger
• Frequency:Monthlyorafterburning1tonoffuel
• By:Homeowner
a. Besuretheapplianceisallowedtocool,hasbeen
unpluggedandtheexhaustblowerisoff
b. Amorethoroughcleaningisneededtoremovethe
excess ash that is left behind from the use of the
cleaningrodsfortheheatexchangertubes.
c. Theashwillberestingonthebackofthebafe.This
willrequireremovingthecastbafe.
a.Allow the appliance to completely cool down before
pullingthecleaningrods. Turnthethermostatonand
thenimmediatelyofftostarttheexhaustbloweronits
cycletime.Itwillpullyashouttheexhaustinstead
ofintotheroom.
b. Locatethe2exposedrodsdirectlyunderneaththeheat
exchangertubes.Figure 14.1.
c.To clean, pull the rods straight outuntil it stops,
approximately203mm.SlidetherodsOUTandINa
coupleoftimes.

A combination of sawdust and pellets on the auger
reducestheamountoffuelsupplytotherepot.This
canresultinnuisanceshutdownsandmis-starts.
a. The appliance must be in complete shutdown.
Allowtheappliancetocompletelycooldown.
b. Emptythehopperofanyremainingpellets.
c. Vacuumthehopperandfeedtube.
