Establishing and verifying IP communication with the
generator
This subsection describes how to establish and verify IP communication with the
generator.
To connect your PC to the generator:
1. Connect your PC to the generator using the procedures described in “Connecting
generators to the network” on page 142.

Refer to the figure above for the location of the Ethernet jack

2. Set the IP address of the generator and PC to enable Ethernet IP connectivity using
the procedures described in “
Setting the generator’s IP address” on page 143.
Verify IP connectivity from your PC to your generator:
1. Press the Tools key. The Tools menu appears on the generator’s display as shown
below.
2. Choose the System item by pressing the adjacent soft key. The System menu appears
on the generator’s display as shown below.
3. Choose the Network item by pressing the adjacent soft key. The generator’s IP address
appears on the generator’s display as shown below.
4. Open up a DOS command window on your PC and telnet to the generator.
To telnet to the generator with IP address 192.168.254.001 enter the following:
telnet 192.168.254.001
You then get the prompt from the generator:
