Point-of-care rapid drug screening may
improve testing turn-around times (TAT) and
length of stay (LOS) in the ED. A prospective
evaluation of implementing point-of-care
rapid urine drug screening demonstrated a
75 minute savings in TAT which resulted in
an average reduction of 3 hours in LOS.
