3. Product Description
BASIC USE
QUIKRETE Concrete Acrylic Fortifier is a highly
water resistant acrylic resin formulation
designed as a bonding agent admixture for
thin Portland cement coatings. It densifies sur-
faces and makes them more resistant to many
chemicals and mild acids, as well as to the
penetration of water or aqueous solutions.
Application With Repair Products
For making thin repairs to concrete, use with
QUIKRETE Sand Mix, Quick-Setting Cement
and other repair materials. Mix QUIKRETE
Concrete Acrylic Fortifier directly into the
repair material as part of the liquid addition.
Applications With Wall Products
Use with QUIKWALL Surface Bonding Cement or
Heavy Duty Masonry Coating in new construc-
tion or rehabilitation to achieve improved bond
strength and to increase water resistance.
QUIKWALL Surface Bonding Cement with
Concrete Acrylic Fortifier is a good choice for
rehabilitation of damaged concrete and
masonry walls.
Use Concrete Acrylic Fortifier with
QUIKRETE One Coat Fiberglass Reinforced
Stucco (FRS) or Finish Coat Stucco to provide
increased bond strength and curing proper-
ties, reduced shrinkage cracking and to pre-
vent separation between basecoats and fin-
ish coats.
Applications With Tile Products
A 50:50 mixture of QUIKRETE Concrete Acrylic
Fortifier and water is used with tile setting and
grouting products to improve bond and
water resistance.
SIZES
1 qt (0.95 L) plastic bottles
1 gal (3.8 L) plastic jugs
LIMITATIONS
QUIKRETE Concrete Acrylic Fortifier is not to
be used with polymer modified products
Do not use with products containing air
entrainment such as mortar mixes made
from masonry cement
Do not use in combination with Concrete
Bonding Adhesive (#9902)
4. Technical Data
When added to the appropriate cementitious
system, QUIKRETE Concrete Acrylic Fortifier will
provide the following benefits compared to
the unmodified system:
Excellent toughness and good adhesion to
clean stucco, concrete or masonry surfaces
Reduced permeability to provide resist-
ance to the penetration of salt water and
other aggressive chemicals
Reduced drying shrinkage which reduces
the tendency for cracking and crazing in
thin repairs
Eliminates the need for moist curing under
most circumstances
Excellent water resistance to decrease
spalling, cracking and surface degradation
caused by repeated freeze/thaw cycles
Suitable for use with trowel applied repair
mortars and stuccos as well as sprayable
systems such as QUIKWALL Surface Bonding
Cement and QUIKRETE One Coat FRS
One coat of QUIKWALL Surface Bonding
Cement or 2 coats of QUIKRETE Heavy Duty
Masonry Coating with Concrete Acrylic
Fortifier added will meet most building
code requirements for dampproofing con-
crete and masonry foundations
5. Installation
SURFACE PREPARATION
It is absolutely necessary that all substrates
be completely clean and free from dust,
dirt, oil, wax and grease
Previously painted surfaces must be stripped
to ensure that all remaining paint is removed
MIXING
Shake well before using
Use the recommended amount of
Concrete Acrylic Fortifier along with suffi-
cient water to provide proper consistency
For QUIKRETE Sand Mix, QUIKRETE One Coat FRS
or Finish Coat Stucco, use 0.5 gal (1.9 L) of
Concrete Acrylic Fortifier per 80 lb (36.3 kg)
bag or 3 pints (1.4 L) per 60 lb (27.2 kg) bag
For QUIKRETE Quick-Setting Cement and
QUIKWALL Surface Bonding Cement, add
0.5 gal (1.9 L) of Concrete Acrylic Fortifier
per 50 lb (22.7 kg) bag
For QUIKRETE Heavy Duty Masonry Coating,
use 0.5 gal (1.9 L) of Concrete Acrylic
Fortifier per 40 lb (18.2 kg) bag
Note - QUIKRETE One Coat FRS Concentrated
requires 1.5 gal (5.7 L) of Concrete Acrylic
Fortifier per bag along with the appropriate
amount of stucco sand.
APPLICATION
Apply in accordance with instructions for
product being modified.
CURING
Under normal conditions, do not moist cure
since air is essential in the curing of Concrete
Acrylic Fortifier mixes; however, under
extreme conditions of wind and heat, moist
curing may be required for the first 24 hours.
PRECAUTIONS
Store in a cool, dry place and protect prod-
uct from freezing
Do not place finishes or patches at tempera-
tures below 50 degrees F (10 degrees C), or
when temperatures are expected to fall
below 40 degrees F (4 degrees C) within 24
hours
Do not use with other polymer modified
cementitious products
