1. General safety information
The use of defective equipment can
lead to personal injury and damage to
property.
Never use defective or damaged equipment.
Please contact our Customer Service depart-
ment in this event.
2. Proper use
Proper use
Only use the DuoFern Awning Sensor to monitor stand-
ard (open / semi-open / closed) folding arm awnings.
The DuoFern Awning Sensor should be mounted by a
specialised company.
Operating conditions:
The corresponding awning motor must be tted with a
mechanical or electronic end position switch.
The end points of the corresponding awning must be
set prior to commissioning.
The DuoFern Awning Sensor is battery-operated; no
mains connection is required.
The installation and operation of the DuoFern radio
system and its components (e.g. DuoFern Awning Sen-
sor) is only permitted for systems and devices where
a malfunction in the transmitter or receiver would not
cause a danger to personnel or property or where this
risk is already covered by other safety equipment.
NOTE
Radio systems which transmit on the same frequency (see
technical specications) can cause interference.

Operating and Assembly
Manual
Using the DuoFern Awning Sensor for purposes
other than previously mentioned is impermis-
sible and is regarded as improper use.
Never use the DuoFern radio system and its compo-
nents for the remote control of appliances and systems
with increased safety-relevant requirements or where
there is an accident risk. This shall require additional
safety equipment. Observe the respective statutory
regulations for the installation of such systems.
6. Important information prior to installation
There is a risk of breakage if installed incorrectly.
Select a suitable installation position on the front rail (edge pipe) of your
awning.
Check that the DuoFern Awning Sensor has sucient space when the
awning is fully retracted.
The mobility of the awning shall not be constricted and the DuoFern
Awning Sensor must not be damages when closing the awning.

An incorrect installation position may lead to interference with
reception.
Never install the DuoFern Awning Sensor in the hollow space of the front
rail, see Figure 2.1.
Figure 1
The DuoFern Awning Sensor is a battery-operated vibra-
tion sensor to monitor wind motion and the vibrations of
an awning.
As soon as the prior set wind sensitivity is exceeded, the
awning automatically retracts and is locked for approx. four
minutes. After this period, the awning or respectively the
awning controller will be operational again.
The DuoFern Awning Sensor is able to detect and register
vibrations in all directions. The orientation of the DuoFern
Awning Sensor on the awning will not inuence its func-
tionality.
NOTE
As a certain time is required to retract an awning, the awn-
ing sensor cannot provide complete protection (e.g., in the
event of sudden extreme gusts of wind).
Should extreme weather events be announced, you must
secure your awning from extending.
To do so, please refer to the operating manual
for the corresponding awning motor.

7. Installation (on the front rail with groove), see Figure 3 / 4
1. Screw the provided erection screws and counter nuts to the xture of the
DuoFern Awning Sensor, see Figure 3.
NOTE
Should the front rail of your awning not have a groove, you can attach the DuoFern
Awning Sensor by means of other screws corresponding to the local conditions.
2. Push the DuoFern Awning Sensor to the desired installation position into
the groove and then screw it tightly, see Figure 4.

3. Improper use
The DuoFern Awning Sensor must be connected to
the DuoFern network.
You must log on the DuoFern Awning Sensor to the corre-
sponding DuoFern device for a DuoFern awning motor or
DuoFern actuator to be able to receive the signals from the
DuoFern Awning Sensor.
The DuoFern Awning Sensor can always only
be logged on to one DuoFern device at any one
time.
Additional log on to a HomePilot®
In addition, the DuoFern Awning Sensor can be logged on to
a DuoFern HomePilot®.
To do so, please refer to the HomePilot®
operating manual.
