WARNING!
Never force open a locking ejector latch. The locking mechanism must be
disengaged to release the latch or damage to the latch could occur.
Do not remove an AMC, CPM, or RTM before its hot-swap LED turns solid blue.
Removing it prematurely can cause unpredictable results in other parts of the
system.
5. WhenitissafetoremovetheAMCormodule,thehotswapLEDstopsblinkingand
remainson.
WARNING!Be careful not to touch any heatsinks when removing the AMC, RTM, or
CPM because they might be hot to the touch. If possible, wait 3 to 5 minutes after the
hot-swap LED turns solid blue to give the air flow in the system time to cool the board.
ToremoveanAMC,pullthemodulehandlefirmlyandslidethemoduleoutofthebay.
ToremovetheCPMorRTM,releasetheotherlockingejectorlatch(thenonhotswap
latch),usingthesamereleaseprocessdescribedinstep4.Simultaneouslypullboth
ejectorlatchestodisengage
themodulefromthebackplaneandremoveitfromthe
chassis.
Important:IftheremovedCPMwi ll notbereplacedwithanothermodule,installan
airflowmanagementfillerdesignedfortheslottomaintainpropercoolingandairflow
throughtheshelffortheremainingmodules.
6. PlacetheAMC,RTM,orCPMonaflat,staticfreesurface.
Note:WhenanAMC,RTM,orCPMisinstalledinashelfwithpowerapplied,theblue
hotswapLEDflashesuntilthemoduleisactive,thenturnsoff.
7. InstalltheAMC.
InserttheAMCintothebayopening,andslideitalongtheguiderailsuntilitisfirmly
seatedintotheCPM’sconnector.ChecktomakesurethattheEMCgasketismakinga
tightseal.PressthemodulehandlefirmlyintotheAMCuntilitstops,whichwillstart
theAMCpowercycle.
8. InstalltheRTM.
HoldtheRTMejectorlatchesintheopenpositionandslidetheRTMallthewayinto
thecorrespondingrearshelfslotthatalignswiththefrontCPMslot.Makesurethe
RTMmakesasolidconnectionwiththebackplaneandtheEMCgasketformsatight
seal.Whentheejectorlatchesreachthelatchrailontheshelf,closebothejector
latchesandtightenthethumbscrews.
9. InstalltheCPM.
HoldtheCPMejectorlatchesintheopenpositionandslidetheCPMallthewayinto
thefrontshelfslotsoitconnectssolidlywiththebackplaneandtheEMCgasketforms
atightseal.Whentheejectorlatchesreach
thelatchrailontheshelf,closeboth
ejectorlatchesandtightenthethumbscrews.
