When securing posts with lag bolts, ensure bolts penetrate

a mi n i mu m o f 1 1 /2 " o f s o li d w o o d . To p r e v e n t w o o d

splitting and rot, drill 5/32" pilot holes and coat lag bolt

threads with non-corrosive exterior silicone caulking.

Ensure posts are plumb.

NOTE: Railings can also be attached to a wall or post

using brackets as shown below.

Measure and mark the position of all posts and space

equally. Lag bolt end post in place. Temporarily position

the second post - do NOT bolt it yet! Cut hand and

base rails to fit between posts. Install base rail support and all

but the last four spacers in each rail.

HELPFUL TIP:

Soap may be used to ease spacer installation.

3 Remove temporary post to install last few pickets and spacers. Cut last spacers flush with ends of rails. NOTE: to ensure equal picket spacing at each post, cut first and last spacers in hand and base rails to equal lengths. STAIR RAILING INSTALLATION Follow all applicable building codes for stair post placement and heights of rails above nose of stair treads. Note: Stair pickets and spacers are different from regular pickets and spacers. 1 Use Universal Connectors (UCs) at each post.

GLASS PANEL INSTALLATION 1 Refer to the Picket Railing Installation instructions for rail and post mounting details. Building codes may vary, always comply with all applicable building codes - space posts accordingly. Cut hand and base rails to fit between posts. Remove picket gaskets from both rails. 2 Cut glass gaskets the same length as rails and drill 1/8" holes into base rail glass gasket for water drainage. Press glass gaskets into rails and install base rail support.
