started that license server or, on Windows NT/2000 and UNIX, you must
have administrator privileges.
What Does WlmAdmin Do?
For full information on using WlmAdmin, see “WlmAdmin - Administer
License Management Activities” on page 96 of “Chapter 5 - Administrator
Commands.” Here is a brief summary of its functions.
Creating or Editing the Redundant License File
To create a new redundant license file or to edit an existing one, go to the
WlmAdmin Edit menu and select the Redundant License File command. This
calls the Wrlftool utility. For information on Wrlftool, see “Using Wrlftool to
Create or Edit a Redundant License File” on page 54.
Note If you are editing an existing redundant license file, to avoid synchroniza-
tion problems because someone else is adding licenses or changing distri-
bution criteria in the redundant license file while you have it open, we
recommend you make a copy of the file under another name, make your
changes, and then rename it back to its original name when you are done.
For best performance we recommend you edit the redundant license file on
the leader license server.
Also note that the changes you make to the redundant license file will not take
effect until you copy the changed file to a redundant license server in the pool (or
edit it directly on the license server using the precautions discussed above) and
then restart that server.
Creating or Editing the Reservation File
The reservation file defines groups of members for which license tokens can be
reserved. You can also exclude members (users or computers) from using the
tokens. Go to the WlmAdmin Edit menu and select the Reservation File com-
mand. This calls the reservation file editor, WlsGrMgr. See “Editing the Reser-
vation File on Windows (WlsGrMgr)” on page 117 of “Chapter 6 - Setting User
Options.”
