STEP 3
Remove shipping strap from winch before installing into the channel (RE Series only--not necessary with other
winches).
Slide rubber boot (supplied with winch) over one end of red battery cable (supplied with winch). Attach end of red
battery cable with boot to stud on winch solenoid cover (see below). Care should be taken when tightening nut on
stud. Place wrench on nut next to solenoid cover, when tightening outer nut, to prevent stud from turning. Place boot
over connector, nuts, and stud.
Disengage clutch on winch, as shown below, and lift winch into position between back bar (item #3) and channel
(item #1). Secure winch to channel using (1) 3/8” X 1” long flat head capscrew (item #6) with flat washer (item
#19), (2) 3/8” x 1 1/4” long flat head capscrews (item #14), and (1) 3/8” x 1 1/4 long hex head capscrew (item
#15) with flat washer (item #19), as shown below.
Attach winch to back bar using (1) 3/8” x 5/8” long hex head capscrew (item #13) with hi-collar lockwasher (item
#21), and (3) 3/8” x 1 1/4” long hex head capscrews (item #7) and lockwashers (item #20). Attach black ground
cable (supplied with winch) to winch mounting bolt as shown below.
TIGHTEN ALL HARDWARE TO PROPER TORQUE VALUE. (See Torque Value Chart on last page)
Wrap the cable looms (item #4) around the battery cables for added protection. Secure loom to cables using cable
ties (item #25). To improve appearance, wrap ends of loom with black electrical tape.
