Remove bolts and separate the brake hoses from the
frame rails. Remove clips holding ABS wire to frame. If
necessary, disconnect any vent hoses and electrical wiring
from the axle.

Remove the nuts or bolts from the brake parking
cable hanger above the rear axle. Remove the hanger from
the cables.
7)
Remove the shock absorber lower nut and bolt from
the axle bracket.
8)
Carefully lower the rear axle until the coil springs are
free from the upper mount seat. Remove the coil springs.
CAUTION: Do not allow the axle to hang by any hoses or
cables.

EPLACEMENT
1)
Adjust Rancho upper control arms RS881004B to
desired length.
TIP: a good starting point is the length of the arm on the
vehicle. Adjust from there to achieve desired pinion angle.
See Illustration 2.
CAUTION: Do not exceed maximum length of 17.82”
Exposed thread must be 1-3/16” (1.188”) or less.

Remove the driver side upper control arm flag nut
and bolt from the axle bracket. See Illustration 3
3)
Remove the flag nut and bolt at the frame rail
bracket. Remove the upper control arm.

Attach the adjustable end of the upper control arm
RS881004B to the frame bracket with the original
hardware. The bend of the arm goes to the inside to
provide clearance for tire. See Illustration 4.

Attach the upper control arm to the axle bracket with
the original hardware.
If control arms do not align with mounting holes, use a jack
under the axle pinion housing or under the differential to
slightly rotate axle the desired direction.
If vehicle is on stands, raising axle to ride height will help to
align holes.
Do not lift vehicle off of jack stands.
6)
Repeat steps 2 through 5 for the passenger side.
7)
Torque the control arm bolts to 125 lb-ft. Tighten jam
nuts to 200 lb-ft.

NSTALLATION
1)
Place OE rubber isolators on top of coil springs.
2)
Set coil onto the axle pads. Raise the axle until the
coil springs and isolators seat on the upper mounts. Move
coils back and forth to seat on upper mounts when raising
axle. Align the last wrap of the coil so it hooks around the
front of the upper mount. See Illustration 5.
