THESE GAS LOG HEATERS ARE CERTIFIED TO THE FOLLOWING STANDARDS:

• UNVENTED ROOM HEATER ANSI Z21.11.2a 2001

• VENTED DECORATIVE APPLIANCE ANSI Z21.60b 2001 * CGA 2.26b-2001

Read these Instructions carefully and retain them for future use.

WARNING: Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service or maintenance can

cause property damage, personal injury or loss of life. Read these instructions thoroughly

before installation. For assistance or additional information, consult your gas log dealer,

qualified installer, service agency or gas supplier.

Design certified for installation only in a solid-fuel burning masonry or UL 127 factory-built fireplace or

in a listed ventless firebox enclosure. DO NOT install this appliance in a factory-built fireplace that

includes instructions stating it has not been tested or should not be used with unvented gas logs.

Do not use this CHILLBUSTER as a Vent Free Heater in sleeping quarters, bathrooms or

recreational vehicles.

WARNING: If the information in this manual is not followed exactly, a fire or explosion

may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life .

This appliance may be installed in an after

market, permanently located,

manufactured (mobile) home, where not

prohibited by local codes.

This appliance is for use with the type of

gas indicated on the rating plate. This

appliance is not convertible for use with

other gases.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS

• Do not try to light any appliance.

• Do not touch any electrical switch; do

not use any phone in your building.

• Immediately call your gas supplier from

a neighbors phone. Follow the gas

supplier's instructions.

• If you cannot reach your gas supplier,

call the fire department.

FOR YOUR SAFETY: Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable

vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. .

Installation and service must be performed by a qualified installer, service

agency or the gas supplier. .

This is an unvented gas-fired heater. It uses air (oxygen) from the room in which it is

installed. Provisions for adequate combustion and ventilation air must be provided.

AIR" (pages 4 and 5.) .

Young children should be carefully supervised when they are in the same room with the appliance. Do not place clothing or any other flammable material on or near the appliance. Any safety screen or guard removed for servicing an appliance must be replaced prior to operating the heater.

VENT-FREE APPLICATIONS (Additional Requirements) 1. Do not use this CHILLBUSTER as a Vent Free Heater in sleeping quarters, bathrooms or recreational vehicles. 2. When operated as a VENT FREE heater, the minimum clearances from the fireplace opening to combustible materials must be maintained as outlined in section "CLEARANCES TO COMBUSTIBLES" (page 6). 3. The installation and the provision for combustion and ventilation air must conform with the National Fuel Gas Code ANSI Z223.1 latest edition.

VENT-FREE APPLICATIONS (Additional Requirements) Fireplace Hoods (VENT-FREE) A fireplace hood deflects heat away from the fireplace face and mantel, reducing the potential for heat related warping or discoloration. The use of a fireplace hood is highly recommended. Fireplace Hoods are offered by many leading fireplace manufacturers.

Prior to lighting and testing, you must CENTER TEE Ember Material Actual Size first apply embers to front burner. Prepare the ember material by pulling apart into loose pieces (not tight clumps) the size of a dime. See Figure 5. 2. Place loose pieces over the Front Burner EMBER building a ramp which completely covers the Front MATERIAL Burner. Continue ramping ember material to cover the Center TEE.

ALL APPLICATIONS (VENTED and VENT FREE OPERATION) C3-S and C3B-S (Switch Control) OPERATION Switch Control (Manual ON-OFF): After successful pilot lighting, allow 60-90 seconds for Thermogenerator to heat up. To turn burner(s) on, place Control Selector Switch in the "ON" position. To turn burner(s) off (pilot remains lit) place Control Selector Switch in the "OFF" position. NOTE: Flame size at the burner(s) is adjustable at the Primary Gas Valve Control Knob.

ALL APPLICATIONS (VENTED and VENT FREE OPERATION) NORMAL OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS Each and every CHILLBUSTER that leaves the factory is quality checked to ensure compliance with our American Gas Association certification. This check includes an operational test to ensure both satisfactory combustion and proper operation. Each installation site for any vent free heater presents its own unique combustion environment.

HOW TO ORDER PARTS Parts can be ordered through the supplier from whom you purchased your log set. When ordering parts, always specify (From information available on name plate attached to grate) the following: 1. Model number of the log set. 2. Serial number of the log set. 3. Manual: Switch Before you start: Both the transmitter and receiver require 9 volt batteries to from OFF to ON; operate in remote control. ON to OFF The blue and black receiver wire leads are for the optional sound producing device Remote: Switch to (CRACKLER). REMOTE. Aim, The receiver must be protected from overheating. Locate receiver well away from press button and hold transmitter at REMOTE OFF ON heat. Accessory REMOTE LOG HOUSE (Model "RH") is available for use as receiver.
