Whenmountingthetransducerinahullthathasa
deadriseanglethetransducershouldbemounted
followingthestepsbelow.
Important:DoNOTremovethelabelattached
tothetransducercableasitcontainsimportant
information.

1.AlignthebottomhalfoftheDeadriseblockso
thatitisparalleltothecenterline(keel)ofthe
vessel.
2.Usingapermanentmarker,drawaroundthe
outsideedgeoftheblockandtheinternalhole
forthethreadedtube.
3.Removetheblockfromthehull.
4.Drillapilotholeinthecenterofthelocation
markedoutonthehullforthethreadedtube.
5.Drilltheholeoutusingasuitablesizeholecutter.
6.Usingsandpaperand/oraleensurethereare
noroughedgesorburrs.
7.Ensureallsurfacesarecleanandfreefrom
debris.
8.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesive
sealantallaroundtheedgeofthetopfaceofthe
transducerandthebottomfaceoftheDeadrise
block.
9.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesive
sealantupeachsideofthethreadedtube,
ensuringthatthesealantwillprotrude
approximately6mmabovethenaltightened
nut.
10.Feedthetransducercablethroughthedeadrise
block’sthreadedtubehole.
11.Pushthedeadriseblockdownontothe
transducerensuringthatthelocatorsontheblock
lineupwiththelocatorholesonthetransducer.
12.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesive
sealantallaroundtheedgeofthetopfaceofthe
bottomhalfofthecutdeadriseblock,whereit
willmeetthehull.
13.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesive
sealantallaroundtheedgesoftheholeinthe
hull.
14.Guidethetransducercableandthreadedtubeup
throughthevesselhullandensurethetransducer
islinedupwiththemarkingsmadeinstep2.
15.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesive
sealantallaroundtheedgeofthebottomfaceof
thetophalfofthecutdeadriseblock,whereit
willmeetthehull.
16.Withapersoninsidethevessel,placethetophalf
ofthedeadriseblockoverthethreadedtube.
17.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesive
sealantallaroundtheedgeofthetopfaceofthe
tophalfofthecutdeadriseblock,whereitwill
meetthenut.
18.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesive
sealanttothebottomofthenut.
19.Ensuringthatthedeadriseblockandtransducer
donotmove,securethetransducerassemblyby
tighteningthenut.
20.Handtightenthenutandaddafurtherquarter
turnusinganadjustablewrench(spanner).
Inordertopreventleaksandtransducer
movementwhenhitbyobjectsorwaves,ensure
thatthenutisadequatelytightened.Youshould
seethesealantprotrudingfromtheedgesofthe
appliedsurfaces.
DoNOTovertighten.Overtighteningcancause
damagetothetransducerandhullwhichmay
resultinwaterleakingintothehull.
21.Removeanyexcessadhesivesealant.
22.Ensurethatthesealanthasfullycuredbefore
puttingthevesselbackinthewater.
Refertothesealantmanufacturersinstructions
forcuringtimes.
23.Oncethevesselhasbeenputbackinthewater
checkforleaksimmediately.
24.Checkforleaksatregularintervalsafter
installationuntilyouaresatisedthatthereare
noleaks.
25.Ensurecheckingforleaksaroundthetransducer
isaddedtoyourroutinevesselmaintenance
schedule.
