13.2AISprerequisites
YoumusthavesuitableAIShardwareconnectedtoyour
multifunctiondisplaytomakeuseoftheAISfunctionality.
InordertorunAIS,youwillneed:
•Areceive-onlyAISunitorafullAIStransceiver(aunitthatsends
andreceives).
•AVHFantenna.
•AGPS-toprovidepositiondata.
•TheAISlayerenabledinthechartorradarapplication,as
appropriate.
Note:Areceiverwillallowyoutoreceivedataaboutother
vesselsinyourareabutwillnotallowothervesselsto‘see’you.
AfulltransceivertransmitsandreceivesAISdata,andtherefore
allowsyoutoreceivedataaboutothervessels.Italsoenables
otherAIS-equippedvesselstoseeandreceiveinformationabout
yourvessel.Thiscouldincludeposition,course,speedandrate
ofturndata.
WhentheAISunitisconnectedtoyourmultifunctiondisplay,the
statusoftheunitisindicatedbyanAISiconinthestatusbar.
YoucanconnectanAISunittoyourmultifunctiondisplayusing
NMEA0183orSeaT alk
ng
,dependingontheAISunit.Ifconnecting
usingNMEA0183,youwillnowneedtospecifythe38,400baud
setting(homescreen>Set-up>SystemSettings>NMEA
Set-up)fortheNMEAinputportthatcommunicateswiththeAIS
transceiverorreceiver.
13.3AIScontextmenu
TheAISfunctionincludesacontextmenuwhichprovidesAIStarget
informationandmenuitems.
TheAIScontextmenucanbeaccessedby:
•HighlightinganAIStargetusingtheJoystickandpressingthe
Okbutton,or
•SelectingandholdingonanAIStargetonscreen—Hybridtouch
multifunctiondisplaysonly.
ThecontextmenuprovidesthefollowingAIStargetdata:
•MMSI
•CPA
•TCPA
•COG
•SOG
Thecontextmenualsoprovidethefollowingmenuitems:
•AISVector—SwitchtargetvectorsOnandOff.
•AISData—SwitchonscreentargetdataOnandOff.
•ViewFullData
•AddBuddy—Addtargettothebuddydirectory.
•AcquireTarget(onlyavailableifRadaroverlayisswitchedon.)
Themenuitemscanbeaccessed:
