17.1Thermalcameraapplication
overview
Thethermalcameraapplicationenablesyoutocontrolaconnected
thermalcameraanddisplayitsimageonyourmultifunctiondisplay.
Thermalimaging(alsoknownasinfrared)camerasenableyouto
seeclearlyinlow-lightandno-lightconditions.Forexample,a
thermalcameracanhelpyounavigateatnightoridentifyobstacles
inareasoflowvisibilityoreventotaldarkness.
Thethermalapplicationenablesyouto:
•Controlthecamera:
–Pan.
–Tilt.
–Zoom(range).
–Returncamerato“home”(default)position.
–Setthecamera“home”position.
–Pausethecameraimage.
–Togglebetweenvisiblelightandthermalcameralenses.
–Togglesurveillancemode.
•Adjustthecameraimage:
–Colorpalette.
–Scenepresets.
–Brightness.
–Contrast.
–Color.
–Videopolarity(reversevideocolor).

Withthehomescreendisplayed:
1.Selectapageiconthatincludesthethermalcameraapplication.
Thethermalcameraapplicationisdisplayed.
Note:IfthehomescreendoesNOTincludeapageiconthat
featuresthethermalcameraapplicationyouwillneedtocreatea
newpageiconfeaturingthethermalcameraapplication.

Thethermalcameraprovidesavideoimagewhichisshownon
yourdisplay.
Thevideofeedprovides:
•Thermalimage
•Statusicons/systeminformation(e.g.cameradirectionand
dockingmodeindicatorsintheexampleabove).
Youshouldtaketimetofamiliarizeyourselfwiththethermalimage.
Thiswillhelpyoutomakethemostofyoursystem:
•Considereveryobjectyouviewintermsofhowitwilllook
“thermally”asopposedtohowitlookstoyoureye.Forexample
lookforchangescausedbytheheatingeffectofthesun.These
areparticularlyevidentrightaftersunset.
•Experimentwithwhite-hotandblack-hot(reversevideo)modes.
•Experimentbylookingforhotobjects(suchaspeople)compared
tothecoldersurroundings.
•Experimentwiththecamerafordaytimeviewing.Thecamera
canprovideimproveddaytimeviewinginenvironmentswhere
traditionalvideocameraperformancesuffers,suchasinshadows
orbacklitscenes.
