17.4Cameracontrol
Powerupandstandby
Whenthebreakerconnectingpowertothecameraisswitchedon,
thecamerawillrunabootupsequencelastingforabout1minute,
afterwhichthecamerawillbeinStandbymode.
Inorderforthecameratooperate,youmustbringthecameraout
ofstandbymodeusingthecameracontrols.
Thermalcamerastandby
Standbymodecanbeusedtotemporarilysuspendthethermal
camera'sfunctionswhenthecameraisnotneededforaprolonged
period.
Wheninstandbymodethecamera:
•DoesNOTprovidealivevideoimage.
•Movesthecameraintoits“stowed”(parked)position(lensfacing
downintothecamerabase)toprotectthecameraoptics.
•Engagesitspan/tiltmotorstoholdthecamerainplaceinrough
seas.
Note:The“stowed”(parked)positioncanbeconguredusingthe
camera'ssetupmenu.
Enablinganddisablingthermalcamerastandby
Withthethermalcameraapplicationdisplayed:
1.SelectMenu.
2.UsetheStandbymenuitemtoswitchthecamerainandout
ofstandbymode.
Note:Youcanalsouseanyofthecameracontrolsinthethermal
cameraapplicationto“wake”thecamerafromstandbymode.
Pan,tiltandzoom
Thecameracontrolsallowforpanandtilt(elevation)ofthecamera,
aswellaszoom(magnication)ofthethermalimage.

•Pancontinuouslythrough360º.
•Tilt(elevate)to±90ºrelativetothehorizon.
•Zoom(magnify)thethermalcameraimage.
Note:StabilizedvariantsoftheT-Seriesthermalcamerasinclude
acontinuouszoomfunction,non-stabilizedvariantscanswitch
betweenx2andx4magnication.
Panning,tilting,andzoomingthethermalimage
Thereare2waysofcontrollingthethermalcamerausingthe
thermalcameraapplication:
•UsingthetouchscreenandtheUniControl'srotarycontrol
(HybridTouchdisplaysonly).
•UsingtheUniControl'sjoystickandrotarycontrols.
Topanandtiltthethermalcamerausingtouchactions:
Moveyourngerupanddownthescreentotiltthecamera
upordown.
Moveyourngerleftandrightonthescreentorotatethe
cameraleftorright(panning).
Note:Youcannotzoomtheimageusingthetouchscreen.You
mustusethemultifunctiondisplay'srotarycontrol,orthethermal
camera'soptionalJoystickControlUnit(JCU).
InsomecircumstancesitmaybebettertousejusttheUniControl's
rotaryandjoystickcontrolstomanipulatethethermalcameraview.
Forexample,thismethodisidealfornercontroloverthecamera
andisparticularlyusefulinroughseaconditions.
UniControljoystick—isusedforrotatingthecameraleftor
right(panning),ortiltingthecameraupordown.
UniControlrotary—isusedtozoominandout.
Thermalcamerahomeposition
Thehomepositionisapresetpositionforthecamera.
Thehomepositionusuallydenesausefulreferencepoint—for
example,straightaheadandlevelwiththehorizon.Youcansetthe
homepositionasrequiredandtoreturnthecameratothehome
positionatanytime.
Thehomeiconappearson-screenmomentarilywhenthe
camerareturnstothehomeposition.Theiconasheswhena
newhomepositionisset.
Resettingthethermalcameratothehomeposition
Inthethermalcameraapplication:
1.SelectMenu.
2.SelectCameraHome.
Thecamerareturnstoitscurrentlydenedhomeposition,and
the“Home”iconappearson-screenmomentarily.
Settingthethermalcamerahomeposition
Withthethermalcameraapplicationdisplayed:
1.Usethejoystickortouchscreentomovethecameratothe
desiredposition.
2.SelectMenu.
3.SelectCameraSet-up.
4.SelectSetHomePosition.
The“Home”iconasheson-screentoindicatethatanewhome
positionhasbeenset.
