22.1UsingaDSCVHFradiowithyour
display
YoucanconnectyourDSCVHFradiotoyourmultifunctiondisplay
andshowdistressmessageinformationandGPSpositiondatafor
othervessels.
ConnectingaDSCVHFradiotoyourmultifunctiondisplayprovides
thefollowingadditionalfunctionality:
•DistressMessages—whenyourDSCVHFradioreceivesa
DSCmessageoralarmfromanotherDSCVHFradio-equipped
vessel,thevesselidentication(MMSI),GPSposition,andtimeof
distressmessageisdisplayedonyourmultifunctiondisplay.With
thedistressmessagedisplayedyoucanusethebuttonsprovided
to:clearthemessage,placeawaypointonthechartattheGPS
positionofthedistressedvessel,orimmediatelystartnavigating
(GOTO)totheGPSpositionofthedistressedvessel.
•PositionData—the“PositionRequest”buttononyourDSCVHF
radioenablesyoutosendandreceiveGPSpositiondatatoand
fromothervesselsequippedwithaDSCVHFradio.
