TheconstructionofyourvesselcanhaveanimpactonGPS
performance.Forexample,theproximityofheavystructuresuchas
astructuralbulkhead,ortheinterioroflargervesselsmayresultin
areducedGPSsignal.Beforelocatingequipmentwithaninternal
GPSantennabelowdecks,seekprofessionalassistanceand
consideruseofanexternalGPSantennamountedabovedecks.
Prevailingconditions
TheweatherandlocationofthevesselcanaffecttheGPS
performance.Typicallycalmclearconditionsprovideforamore
accurateGPSx.Vesselsatextremenortherlyorsoutherlylatitudes
mayalsoreceiveaweakerGPSsignal.GPSantennamounted
belowdeckswillbemoresusceptibletoperformanceissuesrelated
totheprevailingconditions.
Viewingangleconsiderations
Asdisplaycontrast,colorandnightmodeperformanceareall
affectedbytheviewingangle,Raymarinerecommendsyou
temporarilypowerupthedisplaywhenplanningtheinstallation,to
enableyoutobestjudgewhichlocationgivestheoptimumviewing
angle.
