Powerrequirement
TheHDDigitalRadomeAntennamustbesuppliedwithpowerby
eithera12Vdcora24Vdcsupply.DoNOTconnecttoa32V
system.
IfyouarereplacinganexistingRadomescannerwithanHDDigital
RadomeAntenna,youmustalsoreplaceanyexistingcablewiththe
appropriatedigitalcable,asdescribedinsection2.7Cables.
Ifyouconnecttothepowersupplyviaanisolatorswitch,the
minimumswitchratingis:
•Fora12Vsystem,20A.
•Fora24Vsystem,15A.
Caution:DoNOTconnecttopositive

PowerSupplyProtection
Thepowersupplymustbeprotectedbyasuitablethermalcircuit
breakerorfuse,ttedclosetothepowersource.Theprotection
requirementsarethesameforboth18”and24”HDDigitalRadome
Antennae,andareasfollows:
•Ina12Vsystem,protectthepowersupplywitheithera10A
thermalbreaker,ora15Afuse.
•Ina24Vsystem,protectthepowersupplywitheithera5A
thermalbreaker,oran8Afuse.
Powercablelengths
Thetotalpermittedlengthsofpowerconductorrun(i.e.powercable
pluscableextension)fromthepowersourcetotheHDDigital
RadomeAntennaare:
•for12Vsystems,20m(65ft)
•for24Vsystems,35m(115ft)
Ifyouwanttoconnecttoa12Vpowersystembutatotalpower
conductorrunofmorethan20misnecessary,theuseofasuitable
voltageconverterisrecommended,toconvertthe12Vsupply
voltageto24V,andthusenableyoutoextendtherunupto35m.
Werecommendusingaconverterwithaminimum200Woutput
capacity.
Grounding
ThesegroundingrequirementsareapplicableforRaymarine
equipmentsuppliedwithaseparatedrainwireorscreen.
•Theproductpowercabledrainconductor(screen)mustbe
connectedtoacommongroundpoint.
•Itisrecommendedthatthecommongroundpointisabonded
ground,i.e.withthegroundpointconnectedtobatterynegative,
andsituatedascloseaspossibletothebatterynegativeterminal.
Ifabondedgroundsystemisnotpossible,anon-bondedRF
groundmaybeused.
