1.Ensureanappropriatelocationforthetransducerhasbeen
selectedfollowingtheguidelinesprovide.
2.Drillapilotholeinthecenteroftheselectedlocationforthe
threadedtube.
3.Drilltheholeoutusingasuitablesizeholecutter.
4.Usingsandpaperand/oraleensuretherearenorough
edgesorburrs.
5.Ensureallsurfacesarecleanandfreefromdebris.
6.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesivesealantall
aroundthetopfaceofthetransducer,whereitwillmeetthe
hull.
7.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesivesealantup
eachsideofthethreadedtube,ensuringthatthesealantwill
protrudeapproximately6mmabovethenaltightenednut.
8.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesivesealantall
aroundtheedgesoftheholeinthehull.
9.Guidethetransducercableandthreadedtubeupthrough
thevessel’shullandensurethetransducerisparallelwith
thecenterline.
10.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesivesealantall
aroundthetopandbottomfacesofthedeadriseblock.
11.Withapersoninsidethevessel,placethedeadriseblock
overthethreadedtube.
12.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradesealanttothebottom
ofthenut.
13.Ensuringthatthedeadriseblockandtransducerdonot
move,securethetransducerassemblybytighteningthenut.
14.Tightenthenutasfollows:
PlastictransducerHandtighten,plusaquarterturn
oftheadjustablespanner.
BronzetransducerUseanadjustablespannerto
tighten.
WoodenhullAllowthewoodenhulltoswellpriorto
tighteningthenutusingtheadjustablespanner.
Inordertopreventleaksandtransducermovementwhenhit
bywavesetc.,ensurethatthenutisadequatelytightened.
Youshouldseethesealantprotrudingfromtheedgesofthe
appliedsurfaces.
DoNOTovertighten.Overtighteningcancausedamageto
thetransducerandhullwhichmayresultinwaterleaking
intothehull.
15.Removeanyexcessadhesivesealant.
16.Ensurethatthesealanthasfullycuredbeforeputtingthe
vesselbackinthewater.
Refertothesealantmanufacturersinstructionsforcuring
times.
17.Oncethevesselhasbeenputbackinthewatercheckfor
leaksimmediately.
18.Checkforleaksatregularintervalsafterinstallationuntilyou
aresatisedthattherearenoleaks.
19.Ensurecheckingforleaksaroundthetransducerisaddedto
yourroutinevesselmaintenanceschedule.
