 > The EXPERT MODE unleashes the full potential of the Xtreme, banking angles and 
poweroutputaresignicantlyincreased,accelerationsensorisdeactivated,allowing
fullypilotcontrolledippingandrolling.
 > Theexpertmodehasasimilarfeelasa4-channelCCPmodelhelicopterinheading
hold mode. It is AGGRESSIVE and RESPONDS VERY DIRECTLY to the pilot’s 
controlleverinputs.BestresultscanbeachievedinPPMconguration.
 > Thismodeisdesignedforpilotswhohavefullygainedexperienceandcondencewith
yingthe»Xtreme.Itallowsfastpasses,loops,rolls,ipsatthepilotsownabilitysince
control functions such as AUTO-LEVELLINGarecompletelydisabled.

18.5 Your first flight
18.5.1  General information
 > The »Xtreme is essentially equipped withthe handling of a normalhelicopter.The
differences, however, are in the detail. For helicopters, the torque balance is stabilised 
by special gyros (in the rudder function). For this, there are two different systems:
“Normalgyros”orgyroswiththe“headinglock”function.
 > Normal gyrosstabilise(cushion)the tailpropelleragainsttipping motionswhichare
causedbythepilots(drivingspeedand/orelevatorchangesand/orexternalinuences
(e.g.sidewind).Agyrowith“headinglock”functionhasaholdingactionagainstthese
tippingmotions.Bothsystemsrespondafteracontrolcommand–e.g.“ruddertothe
left” and subsequent neutral positioning with the immediate stopping of the tipping
motion.
 > In your»Xtreme,unlikeinstandardhelicopters,there aresixgyrosinstalled forthe
rudder, elevator andaileronfunctions.The installedgyrosare–in comparisonwith
standard gyros – neither to be described as normal gyros nor with “heading lock”
function.
 > Thegyrosinthe»Xtremearelinkedtogethersothataftertheendofacontrolcommand
the»Xtremealwaysattemptstoreachneutralposition(hoveringight).Ofcourse,how
wellthisworksdependsonthespaceavailable,theightspeedand/ortheprevailing
ightcondition,thetrimvaluesofthe»Xtremeandexternalightconditionse.g.wind.
 > This control logic is deactivated in EXPERT mode.Thepositionandightcontrolof
the »Xtreme corresponds to the last control command and is not neutralised.
18.5.2  Placement at start position
Placethemodelonalevelsurfaceassmoothaspossible(e.g.stoneoor).Acarpetisless
suitablebecausethelandinglegsmaygetcaughtinthecarpeteasily.
