INSTALLATION 1. Make sure that the power supply cord is plugged into the POWER 12V DC jack on the base and into an AC outlet. 2. Plug the telephone line cord into the PHONE LINE jack on the base and into a modular jack. 3. Slide the base RINGER switch to ON if you want the unit to ring for incoming calls. (The RINGER switch is located on the same side of the base as the antenna.) 4. Raise the base antenna. NOTE : The phone automatically defaults to touch-tone dialing.

CALLER ID FEATURES This unit receives and displays information transmitted by your local phone company. This information can include the phone number, date, and time; or the name, phone number, date, and time. The unit can store up to 40 calls for later review. TALK button CALLER ID WITH CALL WAITING Provided you subscribe to Caller ID with Call Waiting service from your phone company, you are able to see who is calling when you hear the call waiting beep.
When the memory is full, a new call automatically replaces the oldest call in memory. NEW appears in the display for calls received that have not been reviewed. CHAIN DIALING FROM MEMORY FORMAT Use this feature to make calls which require a sequence of numbers such as using a calling card for a frequently called long distance number. Basically, you dial each part of the sequence from memory.
INSERTING A PAUSE IN THE DIALING SEQUENCE Press the REDIAL button to insert a delay in the dialing sequence of a stored telephone number when a pause is needed to wait for a dial tone (for example after you dial 9 for an outside line, or to wait for a computer access tone). BATTERY INFORMATION BATTERY SAFETY PRECAUTIONS • Do not burn, disassemble, mutilate, or puncture. Like other batteries of this type, toxic materials could be released which can cause injury. • To reduce the risk of fire or personal injury, use only the battery listed in the User’s Guide. • Keep batteries out of the reach of children. • Remove batteries if storing over 30 days.
Release tab CHANGING THE BATTERY Follow these steps to change the battery: 1. Make sure the phone is OFF. 2. Lift the belt clip up out of the way. 3. Press and hold the release tab on the back of the handset. 4. Grasp the battery cartridge, pulling it down and away from the phone. 5. Place the drained battery cartridge in the recharge cradle. 6. Insert the charged battery cartridge.
MESSAGE INDICATORS The following indicators show the status of a message or of the unit. ERROR Caller information has been interrupted during transmission or the phone is excessively noisy. ENTER NAME Prompt telling you to enter name one of the 10 memory locations. ERASE ALL? Prompt asking you if you want to erase all Caller ID records. ERASE CALL ID? Prompt asking you if you want to erase the current Caller ID record that is shown on the display.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE In case of difficulty, please check the following Troubleshooting Guide before seeking service. TELEPHONE Problem Solution No dial tone • Check installation: — Is the base power cord connected to a working outlet? — Is the telephone line cord connected to the base unit and the wall jack? • Disconnect the base from the wall jack and connect another phone to the same jack. If there is no dial tone in the second phone, the problem might be your wiring or local service.
Problem Solution You experience static, noise, or fading in and out • • • • • Range is shorter than normal • Press CHANNEL button during the conversation to select a new channel. • Position the base antenna upward. • Replace the battery. Unit beeps • The handset is out of range. Move it closer to the base. • Be sure you are sufficiently charging the battery. When the battery has been charged for 12 hours, you can expect approximately 4 hours of talk time.
CALLER ID Problem Solution No Display • Is battery fully charged? Try replacing the battery. • If you are using AC power, make sure that the unit is connected to a non-switched electrical outlet. Disconnect the unit from the plug and plug it in again. • Did you order Caller ID service from your local telephone company? The display won't work unless you order Caller ID service from your phone company.
