Auto and Manual Focus
'l'h_' camcorder's automatic fi)cus syst_'m off_'rs continuous shooting ability from close up
to infinity. During auto focus, the camcorder will focus on the" obj_'ct Iocated in the center
of th__ scene. Auto fi)cus may not op_q'ah' correctly in fl_e situations ]ist_d below. You may
want to use manual f\)cusing.
When two subjects overlap in the saln_ _ scene
When i]]umhlation is ]ow
When the subject has no contrast (differs, rice in brightn_'ss and darkness), such as a
fiat on_ _ color wa]] or a clear, b]u_ _ sky
When a dark obiect is barely visible
When fl_e scene contains small patterns or identical patterns fl_;ff are repeated
When the" scene is affected by light beams reflecting off water
When shooting a scene with a high contrast background

1. Press in the, Lock button whih' setting the
POWER switch to CAMERA.
2. In Record Standby mode, set the FOCUS switch
to AUTO.
Manual Focus
1. Press in the, Lock button while setting the
POWER switch to CAMERA.

In Record Standby mode, set the FOC[/S switch
_) MANU. MFis displayed.
Use the Zoom T and W buttons to zoom in or
out on the object you want _) _)cus on.
Rotate the manual fi)cus ring to fi)cus on the
sub}ect.
II_ appears when the focus cannot be adjusted
any farther.
