Formatting a Card

To Format a Card
1. Insert th_ _ card you want to format
(xee [>age 13).
2. Set the I)SC MODE switch to CARD and the
POWER switch to CAMERA.
3. Repeatedly press the MENU/DISPLAY button to
display the c_enu screen.
4. Press • or • to select [TC and press SI/Tto
display the 07_tl!RSscreen.
5. Press • or • to select FORMATand press .';l!Z
6. Press .';liT again to display the FORMATscreen.
Press El!Sto format the card.
Press NOto cancel fi)rmatting.
The menu screen appears when formatting
ends.
7. Press the MENU/DISPLAY button until the menu
screen turns off.

The supplied MultiMediaCard is formatted for immediate use.
Use this camcorder to format a card. The camcorder may not recognize the
images on a card formatted by a computer or other equipment.
Cautions:
Formatting a card deletes all images on the card including the delete-protected
images Be sure to copy important data on your computer or other media
source before formatting the card (see page 128 to transfer data on a card to a
computer).
Do not remove the power source during formatting, as this may cause damage
to the camcorder or card. It is recommended that you use the AC outlet for the
power supply.
