Dirty Video Heads
/sing the camcorder when the vide{) tape is dirty may cause the heads to clog, producing
noise on the recorded image or prevent the image from being recorded at all. Other
things that may cause clogging include recording in high temperature and high humidity
environments, a lot of clust in the air, clamagecl tape, worn tape, long-time use or dew
fi)rmation. Video heads becoming clogged soon after cleaning may be caused by a
damaged tape. In this case, stop using the tape immediately.
If the vide{) heads are clogged, the O indicator appears on the screen during recording.
Signs of clogged heads during playback include: mosaic like noise on the pictures,
picWres that do not move, or the entire screen Wrning blue.
If using a cleaning tape does not clear the vide{) heads, contact an authorized RCA
service center or your dealer for further aclvice.
Using a Cleaning Tape (Commercially Available)

Notes:
Excessive use of a cleaning tape may cause damage to the video heads. Please
read the instructions accompanying the cleaning tape carefully before using it.
The fast forward and rewind functions cannot be used when the cleaning tape
is in the camcorde_

Open the LCD monitor and adjust
the angle.
Set the I)SC MODE switch to IAPE,
and hold in the Lock button and set
the POWER switch /o PLAY_
The video head cleaning screen
appears.
Press S724RTto begin vide{) head
cleaning. NOW CZFMNING flashes
during cleaning.
After about 20 seconds, video head
cleaning automatically finishes, and

To cancel cleaning, Press $7_)1_
5. Remove the cleaning tape.
