INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
I. Install the workboxes
1. Select locations for your TV wall mount and the two
plates in this kit.
Select the location of your flat panel TV mounting bracket.
Then select the location for both the top plate (with outlet)
and the bottom plate (with prongs).
2. Use the template provided to mark the locations for
the top and bottom plates.
Both the top plate (with outlet) and the bottom plate (with
prongs) are designed to be mounted between two studs
(see Figure 1). Using the template supplied (see the last
page of instruction sheet), trace the openings needed for
both top and bottom plates. Use a level to be sure the hole
you cut will allow the plate to be installed level.

3. Cut the openings for the top and bottom openings.
Use a drywall knife to carefully cut holes in the drywall
where you traced the template (for the top and bottom
plates). Use caution since you may not know what is
behind your wall.
4. Run wire between the openings.
Pull a piece of cUL-approved grounded 12/2 or 14/2
building wire from one opening to the other opening to
connect the top plate to the bottom plate. Make sure the
piece of wire is long enough to allow for easy installation
of the receptacles. Insert and secure the electrical wire
through the back of the work box taps and pull excess
through to connect to electrical outlets.
Caution – use copper wire only with this install kit.
5. Run A/V cables (if desired) between the openings.
If you have audio/video cables you’d like to connect your
TV to the other components in your home theater, run
them between the openings.
6. Install workboxes in the openings (must meet local
electrical code requirements).
Insert a single gang retrofit workbox (see Figure 2) in each
of the openings. Securely fasten the workbox to the wall.

II. Install the upper and lower plates
1. Wire the top plate.
Strip off approximately 3 inches of the outer jacket on
the top end of the building wire. Be careful not to cut the
jacket of the inner wires. Connect the hot line (black) wire
to the brass colored terminal screw and neutral (white)
wire to the silver colored terminal screw. Be sure to
connect the grounding (green) or bare grounding wire to
the green colored terminal screw (see Figure 3).

2. Pull the top ends of the A/V cables through the hole in
the top plate.
IMPORTANT: Keep the building wire as far away from
the video and audio cables as possible (see Figure 2).
3. Install the top plate in the top workbox.
Insert the receptacle portion of the top plate into the top
workbox. Once the entire plate is flush to the wall, using
the two white screws supplied, screw the receptacle
portion of the plate to the workbox. Then screw down the
screws with the wings until the plate stays flush with the
wall. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
4. Wire the bottom plate.
Use the supplied three wire nuts to connect the hot line
(black) wire to black wire, neutral (white) wire to white
wire and grounding (green) wire to the (green) or bare
grounding wire (see Figure 4). Make sure the three wire
nuts are fastened tightly.

hole in the bottom plate.

Once the entire plate is flush to the wall, using the two
white screws supplied, screw the plate to the workbox.
Then screw down the screws with the wings until the
plate stays flush with the wall. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
III. Install your wall mount and set up
your TV
1. Install your flat panel TV mounting bracket.
