PICTURE SEARCH OPTIONS
The most basic way to search during playback is using the FWD or
REV buttons. This section contains several other options available
for searching a tape.
FORWARD AND REVERSE SEARCH
You can search a tape during playback. Sound is turned off during
picture search. Search works best for tapes recorded at the SPor
SLP speed.
1. Press FWD to search forward or REV to search in reverse.
2. Press FWD or REV again or press PLAY on the remote
(PLAY°PAUSE on the VCR) to return to normal playback.
SLOW MOTION
You can view a tape during play or play-pause using slow motion.
Slow motion works best for tapes recorded at the SP or SLPspeed.
1. During play or play-pause, press SLOW+ or- on the remote to
begin slow-motion playback. During play-pause, press FWD or
REV to begin slow-motion playback.
2. Press SLOW + to increase or SLOW- to decrease the speed of
the search.

Use TRACKING up or down to remove any streaks from the
picture.
Press PLAY on the remote (PLAYoPAUSE on the VCR) to return
to normal playback.
The VCR switches automatically from slow-motion playback to
stop after a few minutes.
COMMERCIAL SCAN (SEARCH BU'R'ON)
This is useful for skipping commercials or short program segments.
• Press SEARCH once during playback to advance the tape
approximately 60 seconds of recorded material.
• Press SEARCHto cancel commercial scan and return to normal
playback.
