Reference Guide to Ready Seal Application
Ready Seal recommends 2 light
applications on rough cut material and/or 1
moderate application on smooth material
depending upon porosity of the wood (how
much can absorb). Apply multiple applica-
tions wet on wet.
Formula:
(Heighth of Structure X Width of Stucture) X Amount of Sides = Total Square Footage. Divide Total Square Footage by
the Amount of Square Footage Per Gallon On The Chart Below
Ready Seal is a true penetrating stain that truly soaks
into the wood. To have a durable long lasting nish
Ready Seal needs to penetrate into the substrate. If
there is existing stain, paint, or dirt, Ready Seal will
not penetrate leaving you without a durable long
lasting nish. When dealing with new wood, the
grain needs time to open up for Ready Seal to pene-
trate to have a long lasting nish.
Ready Seal is a semi-transparent product
that will show the grain and knot holes,
along with any imperfections of the wood.
Existing material, powerwash marks, imper-
fections of wood, type of wood, and age of
wood will all eect the apperance of the end
results. Gray/oxidized wood can be cleaned
with 1 part bleach 3 part water solution
applyed with a pump up garden sprayer. Let
the solution set for 30 minutes and rinse
with a garden hose.
Ready Seal is an oil based product. It must be applied
to wood with a moisture content of 12% or less.
Because oil and water do not mix, Ready Seal will not
penetrate and the nish will not look appropriate or
last long when applied to wet wood. Test wood with a
moisture meter which can be purchased at your local
hardware store.
