8-4. Inspecting/Cleaning Optional Spark Arrestor

! Stop engine and let cool.
1 Spark Arrestor Muffler
2 Cleanout Plug
Remove plug and remove any dirt
covering cleanout hole.
3 Exhaust Pipe With Rain Cap
Start engine and run at idle speed to
blow out cleanout hole. If nothing
blows out of hole, briefly cover end
of exhaust pipe with fireproof
material.
! Stop engine and let cool.
Reinstall cleanout plug.

! Stop engine and let cool.
1 Generator Brush
Remove brushes from brush holder.
Replace brushes if damaged or if brush
material is at or near minimum length.

Damaged Brushes
New Length: 1-1/4 in. (32 mm)
Minimum Length:
5/8 in. (16 mm)
