8-10. Troubleshooting Tables
A. Welding
Trouble Remedy
No weld output; generator power output
okay at AC receptacles.
Place Process/Contactor switch S6 in a Weld Terminals Always On position, or place switch in a Weld
Terminals Remotely Controlled position and connect remote contactor to optional Remote 14 receptacle
RC14 (see Sections 5-13, 6-3 and 6-4).
Check position of Amperage Range switch S3.
Check position of optional Polarity/AC Selector switch S13.
Reset supplementary protector CB11 (see Section 8-9).
Reset supplementary protector CB5 (see Section 8-9). Check for faulty remote device connected to
RC14.
Check fuse F2, and replace if open (see Section 8-9).
Check and secure connections to Remote 14 receptacle RC14 (see Section 5-13).
Have Facotry Authorized Service Agent check connector board PC6 and connections; brushes and slip
rings; field excitation circuit; field current regulator board PC1; and the rotor.
No weld output or generator power out-
put at AC receptacles.
Disconnect equipment from generator power receptacles during start-up.
Reset supplementary protector CB12 (see Section 8-9).
Check fuses F1 and F2, and replace if open (see Section 8-9).
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check integrated rectifier SR1, capacitor C9, field current regula-
tor board PC1, and rotor.
Erratic weld output. Use dry, properly stored electrodes.
Be sure connection to work piece is clean and tight.
Remove excessive coils from weld cables.
Check and tighten connections inside and outside unit.
High weld output. Check position of Amperage Range switch S3 and Voltage/Amperage Adjust control R1.
Check engine speed, and adjust if necessary (see Section 8-6).
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check field current regulator board PC1.
Electrode sticks to the workpiece more
frequently during low voltage (short arc
length) conditions.
Circuit breaker CB4 may be open. CB4 automatically resets when the fault is corrected (see Section 8-9).
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check transformer T1 and integrated rectifiers SR4 and SR5.
Low weld output. Check engine speed, and adjust if necessary (see Section 8-6).
Check fuses F1 and F2, and replace if open (see Section 8-9). Have Factory Authorized Service Agent
check integrated rectifier SR1, capacitor C9, field current regulator board PC1, and rotor.
Low open-circuit voltage. Check engine speed, and adjust if necessary (see Section 8-6).
No remote fine amperage or voltage
control.
Place Voltage/Amperage Adjust Control switch S5 in Weld Terminals Remotely Controlled position.
Check and secure connections to Remote 14 receptacle RC14 (see Section 5-13).
Repair or replace remote control device.
Wire feeder does not work with welding
generator.
Reset supplementary protector CB5 or CB6 (see Section 8-9).
Check and secure connections to Remote 14 receptacle RC14 (see Section 5-13).
