Offline migration
An offline migration suspends the guest then moves an image of the guest's memory to the destination
host. The guest is resumed on the destination host and then memory the guest used on the source
host is freed.
Live migration
Live migration is the process of migrating a running guest from one physical host to another physical
host.

1.8. V2V
Virtualized to virtualized migration, known as V2V, is supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 for
certain virtualized guests.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 provides tools for converting virtualized guests from other types of
hypervisor to KVM. The virt-v2v tool converts and imports virtual machines from Xen, other
versions of KVM and VMware ESX.
