The grey values are the basic settings performed by the manufacturer at the time these operating instruc-
tions were drawn up. The speed controller of your vehicle may have a different basic setting; observe the
numberofashesoftheredLEDinthiscase.
Description of the setting functions:
• Function#1,greenLED,ashes1xshort:Drivefunction
In this settings menu the speed controller unit can be switched between two driving functions „forwards/brake“ and
„forwards/brake/reverse“.
The setting „Forward/brake“ can deactivate reverse driving; this is frequently required in competitions.
• Function#2,greenLED,ashes2xshort:Motorbrake
If you reduce the throttle at the transmitter or move back the throttle/brake lever into the neutral position, the vehicle
will slow down automatically. The effect is thus exactly like that of the motor-braking function in a „real“ car when you
release the throttle pedal without stepping on the brake pedal.
This also corresponds to the brake function of a conventional electric motor (a brushless electrical motor does not
have any strong magnets that brake the rotor).
• Function#3,greenLED,ashes3xshort:Undervoltageprotection
If LiPo rechargeable batteries are used, then you must ensure that the low-voltage protection is activated (we
recommend at least 3.0 V per cell). When operating a LiPo battery without undervoltage protection, the LiPo battery
is permanently damaged by deep discharge!
If the speed controller measures a battery voltage of 6.0 V in a 2-cell LiPo battery (fully charged approx. 8.4 V) and
a deactivation voltage of 3.0 V/cell, it switches off the motor to avoid deep discharge of the LiPo battery.
WhenusingamNiMH-drivebattery,deactivatetheundervoltagerecognition.Alternatively,youcansettheundervol-
tage protection to 2.6 V/cell.
WhenthevoltageofaNiMH-/NiCddrivebatteryisbelow9Vafterswitchingonthespeedcontroller,thespeed
controller interprets this as a 2-cell LiPo battery. Deactivation would then happen at 5.2 V (2 x 2.6 V).
Ifthevoltageofa6-cellNiMH/NiCd-speedbatteryisabout9V(e.g.forrechargeablebatterieswitharelatively
high voltage position or battery that have just been charged), the speed controller will interpret this as a 3-cell LiPo
battery. Deactivation would then happen at 7.8 V (3 x 2.6 V). In this case, switch off the overvoltage protection.
