7. Information on Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries
Although use of batteries and rechargeable batteries in everyday life is a matter of course today, there are
many dangers and problems.
Therefore, always observe the following information and safety notes in handling of batteries and recharge-
able batteries.
a) General Information
• Keepbatteries/rechargeablebatteriesoutofthereachofchildren.
• Donotleaveanybatteries/rechargeablebatterieslyingaroundopenly.Thereisariskofbatteriesbeingswallowed
by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately!
• Batteries/rechargeablebatteriesmustneverbeshort-circuited,disassembledorthrownintore.Thereisadanger
of explosion!
• Leakingordamagedbatteries/rechargeablebatteriescancausechemicalburnstoskin.Wearsuitableprotective
gloves when handling them.
• Liquidsleakingfrombatteries/rechargeablebatteriesarechemicallyhighlyaggressive.Objectsorsurfacesthat
come into contact with them may take severe damage. Therefore, keep batteries/rechargeable batteries in a suit-
able location.
• Donotrechargeanynormal,non-rechargeablebatteries.Thereisariskofreandexplosion!Onlychargerecharge-
able batteries intended for this purpose. Use suitable battery chargers.
• Observethepolaritywheninsertingbatteries/rechargeablebatteriesorconnectingarechargeablebattery(payat-
tention to plus/+ and minus/-).
• Ifyoudonotuseitforanyextendedperiodoftime(e.g.duringstorage),removethebatteries/rechargeablebatteries
inserted in the transmitter to prevent damage from leaking batteries/rechargeable batteries. Disconnect the receiver
power supply from the receiver completely.
• Regularlyrechargetherechargeablebatteries(aboutevery2-3months).Otherwise,self-dischargeofthebatteries
maycausedeepdischarge.Thisrenderstherechargeablebatteriesuseless!NiMHrechargeablebatteries(except
forspecicbuildswithlowself-discharge)losetheirenergyevenwithinafewweeks.
• Useachargermatchingtherechargeablebatteryatalltimes.Ifthisisnotobserved,thereisadangerofreand
explosion!
• Rechargeablebatteriesheatupduringcharging/discharging(drivingthevehicle).Waituntiltherechargeablebatter-
ies have reached room temperature before charging them. The same applies after the charging procedure. Do not
use the rechargeable battery in the vehicle until it has cooled down completely after the charging process.
• Alwaysreplacetheentiresetofbatteriesorrechargeablebatteriesinthetransmitter.Nevermixfullychargedbat-
teries/rechargeable batteries with partially discharged ones. Always use batteries or rechargeable batteries of the
same type and manufacturer.
• Nevermixbatteriesandrechargeablebatteries!Usebatteriesorrechargeablebatteriesforthetransmitter.
• Onlychargeintactandundamagedbatteries.Iftheouterisolationoftherechargeablebatteryorbatteryhousingis
damaged or the battery is deformed or bloated, it must not be charged. In this case, there is immediate danger of
reandexplosion!
