Note on function #3, undervoltage recognition:
If recognition of the cell number is set to "Automatic" as in function #2, this is automatically calculated according to
the battery voltage after activation of the speed controller. However, the rechargeable battery must be fully charged
forthis.Theautomaticrecognition(ormanualsetting)ofthecellnumberisusedtocalculatedthecorresponding
undervoltage threshold.
An undervoltage recognition is not recommended when using NiCd or NiMH batteries. Therefore, pro-
gramme to "off".
DeepdischargewilldestroyLiPobatteries.Wethereforeurgentlyrecommendactivatinganundervoltagerecogni-
tionforuseofLiPobatteries.Youmaysetthefollowingvalues:2.8V/cell,3.0V/cell,3.2V/cell(recommended)and
3.4V/cell.
The undervoltage recognition will switch off the motor during operation and with the battery empty (e.g. when
3.2V/cellissetanda6-cellbatteryisusedwithabatteryvoltageofapprox.19.2V).Inthiscase,theredLEDatthe
speedcontrollerwillashataslowrhythm.
If you notice a sudden stop of the motor after extended operation, the undervoltage recognition has recognised a
nearlyemptybattery.Amotorthathasbeenlimitedlikethiscanbeactivatedagainbybrieyputtingtheleverforthe
driving function in the neutral position at the transmitter. The motor will now turn at reduce power only. In this case,
drive to the banks immediately and terminate operation. Otherwise, the drive battery is further discharged, which will
cause damage to the drive battery.
Notes on function #4: Motor Timing
Thissettinginuencesmotorrunningcharacteristics(similartoearlyignitionofacombustionengine).Thefollowing
options are available:
0°to11.25°=lowtiming
15°to18.25°=normaltiming
22.5°to26.25°=hightiming
Setting a low timing value means that the motor has a little more torque as compared to the basic settings, and a
little lower maximum speed. Setting a high timing value means that the motor has a little higher maximum speed as
compared to the basic settings, and a little less torque. In both cases, the current values change however. Therefore,
alsoobservecompliancewiththemotorandspeedcontrollerspecications.Alsoobservethetemperaturesofthe
components named in operation.
For this reason, we recommend that the factory settings not be changed.
