f) Controlling with the position sensors of a smartphone
Modern smartphones are equipped with built-in position sensors that always rotate the display according to the loca-
tion of the device so that you can read or recognise the content. The quadcopter can be controlled by these sensors
in the "Pitch" (forwards and backwards) and "Roll" (left and right) control functions.
Tocontrolyourmodelwiththepositionsensors,youmustrstcarryoutallstartpreparationsdescribedinchapter14.
Once all start preparations have been successfully carried out, select the cogwheel icon (Figure 16, no. 6), then select
"Joystick", followed by "Gravity mode YES". This will enable the control via the position sensors of your smartphone.
Keepyoursmartphonehorizontallyinyourhands.Startthequadcopter.InMode2(factorysetting),boththealtitude
and rotation around the vertical axis can be controlled on the smartphone display using the left-hand control.
Floating to the left/right and forwards/backwards will no longer be controlled by the right-hand control, but rather by
the position sensors of the smartphone. By tilting the smartphone forward, the model hovers forward. If you tilt the
smartphone backwards, the model will stop moving forward or hover backwards. If you tilt the smartphone to the left,
themodelwilldrifttotheleft.Theightdirectioncorrespondstothewayinwhichyouholdyoursmartphone.
