15. Troubleshooting
Even though the model and the remote control system were built with the latest available technology, there can still
be malfunctions or errors. For this reason, we would like to give you some information on how to deal with possible
problems. Also observe the enclosed operating instructions for the remote control system.
The model doesn’t respond or does not respond properly
• Checkthesettingofthedrivemode;seechapter10.c).Alwayschoosenormalmodeforyourbuggy(andnotcraw-
ler mode).
• For2.4GHzremotecontrolsystems,thereceivermustbetaughttothetransmitter.Thisprocessmaybereferred
to by the terms of „Binding“ or „Pairing“.
Theteachingprocessusuallywasperformedbythemanufactureralready;however,itcan,ofcourse,alsobedone
by you. Also observe the separately enclosed operating instructions for the remote control system.
• Arethevehicledrivebatteryorthebatteries/rechargeablebatteriesinthetransmitterdischarged?Exchangethe
drive battery or batteries/rechargeable batteries in the transmitter for new ones.
• Didyouswitchonthetransmitterrstandthenthespeedcontroller?Thespeedcontrollerwillnotworkforreasons
of safety in case of reverse order.
• Isthedrivebatteryconnectedtothespeedcontrollercorrectly?Checktheplugconnectionsforwhetheritisconta-
minated or oxidised.
• Isthedrivebatteryfullycharged?Thisvehicleneedseithera6-cellNiMHdrivebattery(ratedvoltage7.2V)ora
2-cell LiPo drive battery (rated voltage 7.4 V).
When using a LiPo drive battery, ensure that the undervoltage recognition is switched on (see chapter 10. b). For a
NiMH drive battery, switch off the undervoltage recognition.
• Ifthevehiclestopswhendriving,theundervoltagerecognitionmayhavebeenactivatedsincethevoltageofthe
connected rechargeable battery has dropped below 6.0 V. Connect a new fully charged rechargeable battery to the
vehicle.
• Theovertemperatureprotectionofthespeedcontrollerhasbeenactivated.Waitforafewminutesuntilthespeed
controller has cooled off.
• Isthevehicletoofaraway?Withafullychargeddrivebatteriesandfullychargedbatteries/rechargeablebatteries
inthetransmitter,therangeshouldbe50mandmore.Therangecanbedecreasedbyoutsideinuences,suchas
interference on the transmitter frequency, or proximity to other transmitters (not only remote controller transmitters
but also WLAN/Bluetooth devices that also use a transmission frequency of 2.4 GHz), metal parts, buildings, etc.
Thepositionoftransmitterandreceiveraerialtoeachotherverystronglyinuencesrange.Itisbestwhenboththe
transmitter and receiver aerial are vertical. If you point the transmitter aerial at the vehicle, the range will be very
short!
• Checkthecorrectpositionofthespeedcontrollerandsteeringservoplugsinthereceiver.Iftheplugsareinserted
rotated by 180°, the speed controller and steering servo will not work.
If, however, the speed controller and steering servo plugs are swapped, the throttle/brake lever at the transmitter
controls the steering servo, and the wheel controls driving!
