Tips and notes
• The USB 3.0 hub is USB 2.0/1.1 compatible. This means that conventional USB
2.0/1.1devicescanbeoperatedthroughtheUSB3.0hubwithoutproblems.That,
however,willnotmakeUSB2.0/1.1devicesanyfaster!
• InordertotakeadvantageofthehighspeedoftheUSB3.0,alldevicesmustsupport
theUSB3.0interface:TheUSBdeviceitself(e.g.anexternalharddisk),theUSB
HubandtheUSBcontrollerinthecomputer.
• ThetheoreticalmaximumspeedofUSB3.0(orUSB2.0/1.1)cannotbereachedduring
real operation. Reasons for that can be protocol information, the simultaneous
operationofseveralUSBdevicesorspeedlimitationsoftheconnectedUSBdevice
orUSBcontroller/mainboard.
• DOSandtheWindowsSafeModedonotsupportUSBoperation.Dependingonthe
computerorBIOS/setupsettings,theuseofaUSBkeyboardorUSBmouseisstill
possible.This,however,mightrequiretheUSBkeyboardormousetobeconnected
totheUSBinterfacesofthecomputerdirectlyratherthantotheUSBhubitself.
• USBdevicescanbeconnectedanddisconnectedduringuse.Itisnotnecessaryto
switchoyourcomputerwhenconnectingordisconnectingdevices.
• When disconnecting a USB device during an active data transfer (e.g. when
transferringdatafromanexternaldisktothecomputer),theoperatingsystemmight
collapse.Itcouldfurthermorecausedatalossorevendamagetothelesystemon
theexternaldrive.
• ForWindows®XP,Vista™,7and8,themenubardisplaysaniconwitharrowhead
whencertainUSB devices(e.g.USBhard disk) areconnected.Usethis icon to
“disconnect”theUSBdevicefromthecomputer.ItisthensafetounplugtheUSB
device.
• ToconnectUSB3.0devices,onlyusetheUSB3.0cableintendedforthispurpose.
NotethattheuseofverylongUSB3.0cablescouldslowdownthedatatransmission
rate.
Maintenance and cleaning
• Undernocircumstancesuseaggressivecleaningsagents,cleaningalcoholorother
chemicalsolutionssincethesecanpenetratethehousingorimpairfunctionality.
• DisconnecttheUSBhubfromthecomputerandpoweradapterbeforecleaning.
• DonotimmersetheUSBhubinwater.
• Havemaintenanceandrepairsdonebyqualiedexpertsorrepairshopsonly.There
arenocomponentslocatedinsidetheproductyouneedtomaintain.
• Tocleantheproduct,adry,softandcleanclothissucient.Donotapplytoomuch
pressuretothehousingasthismaycausescratchmarks.
• Usealonghaired,softandcleanbrushandavacuumcleanertoeasilyremovedust.

householdwaste.
