Mounting
The night light can be secured in two dierent ways using the mounting plate.
The mounting plate can be screwed to a suitable surface or stuck in place using the glue strip
provided.
The night light can also be used without the mounting plate. Place it in the desired location so
that the PIR motion sensor is aligned in the desired position.
Ensure that no existing cables or pipes (including water pipes) are damaged when
drilling mounting holes or securing screws.
a) Mounting with screws
Remove the mounting plate on the back of the night light by sliding it out with two ngers as
described in "Inserting/changing the batteries".
Drill two holes through the mounting plate in the designated locations.
Put the mounting plate in the desired position. Mark the holes for two screws and then drill the
hoes.
Depending on the surface, suitable screws and/or dowels may be required. Secure the mounting
plate to the mounting surface with the dowels and screws provided (if they are suitable).
Now place the night light into the guide tracks on the mounting plate and gently slide it
downwards until it clicks into place.
b) Mounting with the glue strip
The mounting plate can be stuck to a smooth, clean, dust-free and fat-free surface with the
glue strip provided. Remove the mounting plate on the back of the night light by sliding it out
with two ngers.
Remove the protective lm on one side of the glue strip and stick it to the back of the mounting
plate. Then remove the protective lm on the other side and attach the mounting plate in the
correct orientation. Press on the mounting plate rmly for a few seconds.
Now place the night light into the guide tracks on the mounting plate and gently slide it
downwards until it clicks into place.
c) Free-standing installation
Place the night light without the mounting plate on its feet in a suitable location. The light should
only be used in this way temporarily and in sheltered locations, as there is no protection against
the light falling o.
Operation
The light is ready for use after mounting and inserting the batteries.
The night light turns on in dark conditions as soon as the infra-red sensor detects a movement. It
turns o approximately 60 seconds after detecting the movement. If a new movement is detected
during this time, the 60 second period starts again when the new movement is detected, i.e. the
light is on for a longer period. The built-in automatic light sensor prevents the infra-red sensor
from being activated when the ambient light is bright enough.
The night light does not work in daylight. The brightness of the surroundings must drop below a
certain level (10 lx) in order for the light to work.
Ensure that the sensor lens is not covered with opaque material or dirt.
Troubleshooting
Problem Possible cause Suggested solution
The night light does
not turn on when there
is movement in the
sensor range.
1. The batteries are empty. 1. Replace the batteries.
2. The lights in the surroundings
are too bright.
2. Mount the night light in
another suitable location.
3. The sensor is mounted/
pointing in the wrong
direction.
3. Realign the sensor.
The night light turns
on when there is
no movement in the
sensor range.
1. Sources of heat such as
outdoor lights, torches,
barbecues, chimneys and
air vents or passing vehicles
activate the sensor.
1. Keep these sources of heat
away from the sensor or
place the sensor in a dierent
location.
2. Pets and wild animals such
as cats, martens and squirrels
activate the light.
2. Try to place the PIR sensor in
a dierent or slightly higher
location.
3. The sensor responds to
reections on reective
surfaces such as swimming
pools or windows.
3. Place the sensor in a dierent
location.
The night light turns on
during the day.
1. Ambient light can no longer
reach the sensor lens.
1. Clean the cover of the
sensor lens. There is too little
daylight.
Maintenance and cleaning
Never use aggressive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, as these could
damage the housing or even impair the functioning of the product.
Remove the batteries before cleaning the product. Other than replacing the batteries, you do not
need to carry out any maintenance work on the product.
You can use a clean, soft and dry cloth to clean the product. Dust can be easily removed using
a clean and soft brush.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household
waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory
regulations.
Remove any inserted batteries and dispose of them separately from the product.
b) Batteries
You as the end user are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries. Disposing
of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Contaminated batteries are labelled with this symbol to indicate that disposal in the
domestic waste is forbidden. The designations for the heavy metals involved are: Cd
= Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (name on batteries, e.g. below the trash icon on
the left).
Used batteries can be returned to collection points in your municipality, our stores or
wherever batteries are sold.
You thus full your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
