Instructions / Assembly

PLUMBING LAYOUT FOR TYPICAL PIPING SYSTEMS:
COMPLETING YOUR INSTALLATION:
1. Turn on the water and gas supply valves at the main
lines. See Figure 5.
2. See Figure 7 on page 6 for typical plumbing layout of
piping system WITHOUT dedicated return line, which
requires installation of Comfort Valves. See Figure 8 on
page 7 for typical plumbing layout of Comfort Valves
installed in a branched water line.
3. Follow the instruction sheet provided with the Comfort
Valve Kit for proper installation.
NOTICE: This circulation pump system can be used
on piping systems with equivalent pipe length up
to 400 ft. Equivalent pipe length includes fittings,
supply and return piping. See Table 3 on page 5 for
details on equivalent allowable pipe length.
NOTICE: To conserve energy and minimize heat loss,
insulation of hot water lines is recommended.
NOTICE: Water should be treated if total hardness
of water is 180 mg/L or higher so as not to affect
performance of pump and tankless water heater.
4. Connect water, vent and gas lines per instructions
provide in the Use and Care manual. DO NOT overtighten
fittings on the gas and water piping.
2. Check water, gas lines and fittings carefully for possible
leaks. If leaks occur, check all compression and threaded
connections and tighten firmly. Open hot and cold fixtures
for few minutes to flush and purge air from the system
completely.
3. Plug in heater to the power outlet. Turn on tankless
water heater remote control. Follow instructions provided
in Use and Care manual and set remote control to desired
temperature.
4. Plug in the pump to the power outlet. The pump will
start automatically the first time only, and run for a short
time until a rise in temperature is detected by the thermal
sensor at the inlet of the pump, and then the pump will
automatically shut off.
5. To test manual activation push button, wait for hot water
temperature to cool below 100°F (approximately 20-30
minutes, depending on the installation). Press push button
to operate the pump. The pump should run for a short
time and shut off automatically as noted in the step above.
6. Check hot water at the fixture for desired temperature.
If hot water temperature is not satisfactory, refer to Table 1
page 4 for troubleshooting checklist. If water temperature is
satisfactory reinstall the extended cabinet front cover, and
tighten the two screws that where removed previously.
NOTICE: Using this unit on piping systems that
DO NOT have a dedicated hot water return line
requires the use of the Comfort Valve Kit.
NOTICE: Install the Comfort Valve Kit at the farthest
fixture to run the hot water circulation through the whole
house piping system. Comfort Valve may not operate
properly at lower tankless water heater thermostat set
points.
CAUTION: Warm water may be present in cold
water fixtures and cold water lines during pump
operation and a short period thereafter, when using
cold water line as a return line.
CAUTION: Piping should be filled with water and
air purged before plugging pump to power outlet.
Avoid running circulator pump dry as this will
damage the circulator pump.
INSTALLING OPTIONAL WIRELESS REMOTE
TRANSMITTER/RECEIVER KIT:
INSTALLING OPTIONAL MOTION SENSOR ACTIVATION KIT:
For wireless remote operation, a transmitter/receiver kit
(sold separately) can be installed. For proper installation,
follow the instructions provided with the kit.
For motion sensor operation, a hard-wired motion
sensor kit (sold separately) can be installed. For proper
installation, follow the instructions provided with the kit.
CAUTION: The motion sensor kit and wireless
transmitter kit cannot be installed together because
they operate on different voltages.
NOTICE: If wireless remote kit will not be used, use
electrical tape or wire nuts to isolate the three leads
(black, white and green) on the receiver wire (black
wire). For proper installation, follow instructions
provided with the kit.
Figure 5
1. See Figure 6 on page 5 for typical plumbing layout for a
system with dedicated return line.
NOTICE: Pump will run for a maximum of three
minutes after the push button is activated or until the
thermal sensor is satisfied.
